  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Lockwiring 499/511

Guys,
Any advice on lockwiring the oil drain plug on the 499/511?

It's a countersunk hex bolt. I think it might be easier to remove it and replace it with a normal bolt that can be drilled. Is that correct? What size bolt would it be?

Also, the zipty oil cooler/return kit... how do you lock wire that up? For those of you that have it, its the oil filler plug, where the oil return fits. I'd rather not remove it for racing, but have no idea how to lock wire it!

Has anyone done this already?

Get a 7602 brand oil drain bolt kit, they use 14mm hex head on all the screen and drain bolts, then drill them out. As for the Zipty kit, can't help you there.

I have lock wired the hose clamp instead - not sure it counts but think it will hold up

How did you do that? Are you talking about down near the oil filler bolt? I've had a look but I'm not sure what you mean?

Awesome Londin, thanks, I see what you mean! You make me ashamed of how dirty my bike is by the way!

Bike it lots more dirty then on the photo, it's just the ZipTy can that makes it look nice. When looking at the phot ill lock wire it differently as the hose clamps can move and pull the hose off. So I'll add some more lock wire haha. It's gonna look like a spider web before I'm finished!

It looks good! Any suggestions on how to lockwire the oil circulation kit - particularly at the oil fill plug point? I don't want to remove it for racing but I can't figure it out!
