  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Little end bearing doesn't fit inside wossner piston

04wr300

Husqvarna
C Class
Just putting the top end of my bike back together after seizing after 3 hours.

I purchased a wossner piston and rings for the rebuild. When trying to install the piston on the rod I just couldn't get the pin to line up with the rod end and bearing.

I'm reusing the bearing that halls supplied with the 300 conversion kit. With just the bearing on the rod end I did notice that It came out each side by a millimeter or so.

With the piston upside down I tried to sit the little bearing where it would sit if the pin was installed, however I noticed the bearing would foul the inside of the piston around the piston pin hole before getting to the point where it lined up with the holes.

So either the bearing is too wide for the wossner piston or the pistons wrong?

Any ideas? Starting to think this bike hates me!

I am reading about this on the 300's way to much. Whats up? leaky intake boots on some, tight pistons on others. etc. weird.
Me too. I dont get it because i have absolutely hammered my 09 for four years now. I boilded it over once, ran it out of coolant but rode ot home, had my clutch cable go out on a ride once and was forced to slam gears to get home, completely drowned it in a river. Thing just keeps going. I want to upgrade but the bike has been absolutely indestructible. Thats why i am dumbfounded when hearing these stories.

How many have seized, really? I know that there have been a couple but I don't remember seeing an inordinate amount of threads. I've seen a couple destroyed 125/144/165s too...

I think that the leaky air boot may have gotten a few, but the rest are probably just typical user error or age-related stuff like bad jetting, intake leaks, overheat, etc.

Bought new in December 2013. 46 hours on clock now. Ran it out of coolant once. Ran it at dunes with big tear in intake boot (didn't suck sand but sucked all sorts of air making it ultra lean). Not seized yet.
