• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Lithium Battery Technology soaring

cool post. Would be great to see more electric vehicles out there with performance to match gas versions. Graphene is some amazing stuff. I wonder what a sheet of graphene costs? New product.. 7602 racing clutch covers made from graphene. clear, light, charges your battery when in the sun. :D

Nice post. Thats the holy grail of tech right now. Someone comes up with a super battery and internal combustion engines will die quickly. Imagine a bike that goes 200 miles on a charge that takes 2 minutes. Then think about no transmission, cooling system, oil, and a pile of other stuff will not be needed. Maintenance will be down to repairing hard parts you thrashed crashing and tires. Exciting times.

I love cool tech like this. How do you construct a big bore graphene/lithium for the lb challenged among us.;) The ultimate stealth bike for beating all the environazi's around the woods on all the closed tails.

Adjustable power / consumption / range. Adjustable power curve. And simplicity at it's finest. Sneak up on hikers and equestrians and when you scare the crap out of them say "oh sorry my sport is so quiet and clean" priceless.

Yeah but the Harley guys will tell you it's the noise that makes them safe.....let's you know they're there.

I wonder which way electric bikes will go with this, smaller and lighter or more range .....likely both. Seems well suited to trials bikes too. If you put a sidecar model out you could stretch the range to a true day's ride....300-500

Maybe ok if you live in California or Florida. But it´s just started to get cold here and there´s hardly a street without some car with a dead battery. And it gets dark in daytime too so lights are on most of the time. Together with windscreen wipers, air conditioning etc. etc. ... lithium power would need to increase by a lot more than 300% (batteries lose about 30% when it gets to freezing).

If only they could develop a charger that ran off seaweed instead of the electric grid.

I have a few RC trucks and 10 years ago nitro powered was the bees knee's. Now with the battery technology electric trucks are where its at. Could dirt bikes follow this same transistion, maybe?

I think thats exactly what will happen once batter tech leaps forward, it really is the only hurdle at this point.

Looked at the two `lektrick bikes in the new BMW/Husky dealer´s showroom here. They´d tried them out and were definitely underawed.30 kms endurance ... and it´s not even winter. Looked like something from a kiddy´s fairground roundabout.

Its true ... I see that noise factor every day where I ride ... And I'm not talking about a harley ... Silence is not always golden ...

And its not so much about you but for others along the way that might be on the roadway ...

Take a horn for instance .. .Many cultures in the world use the horn for good and not just to show their anger that they are wanting to express at someone.

Cool, can't wait to have an electric dirt bike that I can disguise as a mtn bike. Think of all the new trails that will open up to you
