• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Im looking to get a new set of levers and purchase, and I want to go to the jap unites just because of the availability. What would I need to do to make the swap..

buy Magura's

In my option buy stock type Magura's, they work better than the jap stuff.
I've bought a Husky a few years back & the clutch felt like crap, i changed the levers & perches back to Magura's & the clutch worked beautifully. Magura must make different leverage ,because i've felt the difference w/o doing anything else.

Magura Perches sets are available thru Parts Unlimited, as i just bought
a new set 2 weeks ago.

I run modern levers on both sides and other than making spacers to take up the cable slack (on some versions) the only noticeable difference is with the clutch play when feeding out. You'll have to readjust the throwout rod (see manual, it's easy) but essentially it make everything happen quicker. Most of the brands of levers are made with Honda ratios and what I like best is the adjust-ability & ease of reach for my small hands.

Ill add into here without stealing the thread away from the topic, but I am going to purchase a set of braided lines for the brake, clutch and throttle off www.husqvarna-parts.com, it doesn't say the cables are suited to magura levers in the description. so if i get some cheap AM levers, whats the chances of encountering problems on fitment? Is there a drastic difference in magura levers to others in regards to cable mounting? 390 CR 1980 by the way.

Cheers, Moody390
