  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Lectron installed, I'm impressed

After fighting with the jetting on my new 125 and reading all the great results everyone seems to be having with the Lectrons I sent Kelly an email and had one on the way.

Install went easy, even though I didn't know what I was doing. Old one comes off along with 10lbs of vent hoses, switch the throttle cable into the Lectron, screw it back together, and put it in. There were some metal shavings/slivers that needed to be clean out of the Lectron before bolting it up, mostly on the notch on the slide where the throttle cable installs. No big deal but something to watch out for.

Initial results are great! Installed right out of the box with ZERO adjustment and the bike fired up after 2 kicks. Idle was great (couldn't get the bike to idle worth a damn with the stock carb) and response is crisp off the bottom, it'll need maybe just a slight adjustment on top as it seems a little lean but I'm basing that on the sound not the feel. Needless to say I'm impressed, I can't believe how well the bike runs with no adjustment and I know with a little fine tuning it'll be even better. I decided to wait for any fine tuning until I put my new pipe and silencer on it.

Nice glad you like it so far. We set them up erroring on the rich side so it probably needs leaned out some. You'll get a feel for it. On these carbs it is semi anti intuitive and needs leaner when it feels lean. You will sort it, no big deal.

thats not good and I have not seen this before. Will address this with Lectron. There is a good bit of mods and machining to make them Motosportz spec and fit our bikes right and thats what that is about but should be perfectly clean when you get it.

nice! i love mine too but man am i jealous of that perfect air boot fit (i had to cut my boot).

can we get the earlier version that was sold machined down to fit now?

Any downside to using a lectron on a bike that is MX only? How much do they cost?

No. $390 (shipped) all setup with custom metering rod, relocated, breathers, externally adjustable powerjet, machined to fit your bike and other Motosportz spec'ed changes. We have put a lot of effort into them to make them right for our applications.

yes. But it is really hard after the fact. Carb has to be completely disassembled, jigged, machined and reassembled. Its a lot of work and they don't like doing it but will if you really need it (for a cost). These things evolve and we are constantly making changes and upgrades to make them better as we work with them. The cool thing is Lectron and Motosportz have a great relationship and stuff happens fast. Theres some new stuff coming for both carbs and EFI I cant talk about but are cool new solutions. Interesting stuff.

Yes. I having I having mine shortened to better fit my new Beta 300RR next week.

So....the Lectron are now being made the same size as the 38mmTMXX? Like 92mm overall?

Thanks

Who sells these here in the forum ?
I've a WR300 2010, just bought it and didn't try it really .. But I'm planning to get on of those Lectrons if I encounter carburation problems with the Mikuni... $390 is not cheap but the lack of carburation-needs and better mileage could justify it I think...

I suppose they will be sent from the US ? I am in Spain so shipping and taxes make that thing even more expensive ...

We will see what the first ride this sunday reveals ..

Regards.

cheap or expensive is how you look at it

I have a motorbike to ride and not to wrench, changing jets and needle settings on the trail can be done very quickly after numerous times of doing it (on a husky its a easy task, try do it on a 4 stroke honda your doomed  ) but its a pain and not the idea of a ride that I have in mind.

If I take all this time combined and simply put my hourly wage on top of it the $390 is a bargain, on top of that it does run more efficient with the fuel. consumption.

I am not exaggerating but its putting the carb on the bike and it runs 95% good out of the box if you feel bothered by the last 5% its a simple task of max 10 minutes and you're set for the rest of the bikes life

money well spend in my books.

hey 454x what is the cost of machining it down? im thinking of either doing the same or selling off the one ive got for the newer machined down type. not a big issue I spose but don't like how the airbox gets deformed slightly & a tight fit with the original ones-im a little pedantic & like getting the newer improved versions of things:lol:

There is a local to me lectron for sale cheap that came off a husq 300. What adjustments would it need to suit a 01 125??
