  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Lectron install - bike won't start

malignity

Husqvarna
Please forgive me, as the bike I am posting about not a Husky. I know a lot of guys here have Lectron's, and Kevin is out on a business trip. A friend of mine and I decided to both buy our Lectron's together. He has a Husky WR250, and me with a 2005 KTM 300 EXC.

Install was painless enough, but kick and kick and kick, and my bike simply won't fire. Choke on, choke off, doesn't seem to matter.

I've heard about Lectron's having finicky starting when the petcock is off, even if there is fuel in the bowl. Would an in line fuel filter have the same effect? I don't even know where to begin tuning this thing since I can't even get a baseline. :(

If you look into the carb how far open does the slide sit?

When you installed the throttle cable, is the flat side of the metering rod facing the engine?

yes this...

Flat side of the rod must face the engine. Lean bike over and let gas overflow. Float bowl full? Whats the plug look like. Should be really Ez to get it going. You have checked silly things like the spark plug wire is on etc right? Anything you unplugged to install the carb? Check for spark.

Did your friends bike start? If it did follow the above advice. Just did a 250 to 300 conversion on mine 4 kicks with an empty float bowl . 1 kick full float bowl.

Don't know yet. Just ordered mine yesterday.

I had the same problem when i installed the lectron on my wr300. Turns out it was set far too rich, the metering rod needed to be turned a full rotation and a half. Started up no problem after that.

Hope that helps.
