  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Kx 250 Carb Instead Of Tmx

IMG_0456.JPGIMG_0457.JPGIMG_0459.JPG I grow tired of my wr250 mikuni loading up with fuel on "ladies" rides yet run lean and hot riding normally, i ride from 3000 to 8000 and hard to find the right jetting (390, 30, stk needle 2nd groov.) so i figured id throw a keihin on it from a 2001 kx250, it has the powerjet and tps, both dissconnected now and plugged off, i mocked up the carb, its a little shorter (front to back) and the bowl just touches the cases... anyone do this before??? most use the "proper" pwk, but i had this one hanging around..

SORRY DAMN IPHONE SIDEWAYS PICS!

will work very well but the bowl touching the case is a no no as fuel frothing may happen and in my experience of this happening will result in seizure so try to juggle things around to gain a little clearence even if you have to make a spacer to go behind the reed block:thumbsup:

Is there an intake boot that is a little longer then stock? Perhaps off of a Honda cr250 or the like?

Also would the moose intake spacer for the cr250 Honda work?

Looks similar to the KTM carb I have for mine. It was a little short and touched the case too. Have you tried to put the tank on yet? Mine hit the fuel petcock too so I haven't got to try it yet. Just got a different acerbis petcock to try this spring.

I think they are the same carb, i didnt even try the tank yet, i was more worried about the head mounts, but that seems to clear fine. i think i will break in the new top end with the mikuni THEN figure out this keihin. Turns out i have to use the kawi throttle housing and cable too. i should just buy a new OSSA! haha

Basically the same carb that comes on new KTM's, so get the clearance issues worked out and you will be good to go.

May we ask for you jetting?
Does it feel much better?
See Post #6. I haven't got to try it yet. I will this spring someday when the snow melts. It will be awhile till that happens here.

I think I'll try the CR intake spacer. It should help with the fit.

built a spacer out of 3/16 6061 alu, got a new kx cable off of ebay for $1.50. now i just need a kx throttle tube and it will be a complete set up. everything clears wonderfully, and maybe ill gain a touch of tourqe down low. im going to start at middle clip position, 170 main, and 45 pilot a/s at 1.5 turns so it might be close....?

A lovely piece of fabrication work ! well done
A ktm throttle cable is a direct fit if a kx twist grip dosnt show up

Well I stole the throttle tube off my 79 z50. Which was a factory Yamaha from my 04 yz250. The grip feels the same as the husky's, so I'm set there. But then I find out the petcock hits the top of the carb (tps housing) so I've got a Clarke petcock ordered. Hopefully that will do the trick!

I've been running the PWM on my WR for the past year. The one I use is the Keihin generic version without the TPS and power jet. I also use a reed spacer from a GAS GAS, which is about 3/16" or less and button head bolts. The stock Husky cable adjuster screws right into the cap, so I can use the stock cable. It also just up just like the more common PWK that most convert to.

I didn't have the spacer in this picture.

Hows the PROVINI work and where the heck did u find 1 in America???$$$$$

Everything is assembled, fits nicely, and for future reference for any of you the Clarke straight down "grooved" petcock fits perfect.
