  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Kickstarter Hits Frame. Normal?

C Class
is it normal for the kickstarter to contact the frame slightly when cycling the lever to start the bike? i have a 2009 510 txc

it will brake the case in some instances, i was told to NEVER kick the bike with it in gear.
check some other post and see the damage done by this.

the lever cycles fine it just rubs on the frame slightly ill post some pictures of what im talking about.

To me it seems like the weld is to big or something Idk I've call a few husky shops they've never see anything like it let me know what you guys think.

to me it does look like a big weld at that joint in the frame.
i broke my kickstart lever and a new one was $120+ shipping, the thing i told you about was due to the starter clutch not wanting to disengage when kicking in gear.
send pics to husqvarna and see if you get a response

can some one take some pictures of there 2008-2010 310 450 or 510 any model so i can compare the frame areas i think pointman449 is on to something with the big weld theory.

My 2010 TE450 is pretty much exactly the same, I was wondering if the motor has moved on its mountings?

I was just getting ready to suggest the same thing, take a good look at your engine mounting bolts to make sure they are not loose and that the engine is not moving. If all is tight then I would just grind some of the weld down to eliminate the contact area on the kick start lever. I don't think I've ever kick started my bike since I've owned it, and I hope I never have to.I love that button on the handlebar.

My 2009 TE310 was the same way the day I got it home. I just filed the weld a little so kickstarter would clear. And I also love the button.

Maybe, the dealerships i called didnt think the engine could move enough for that to happen even if the motor bolts were loose, one service guy thought it could be the kickstarter itself missing shim or something. I looked at an exploded view of the kick lever, nothing is missing so that is out. Im starting to think the frame could be bent but one tech seemed positive that was very unlikely. The bike is dam near perfect only has like 10 hours on it. the guy i bought it from was a beginner and the power was to much for him. I dont see any damage other then a bent foot peg. one thing i have noticed on the newer bikes is the lever is flat where the one on the old bikes are more rounded. stushusky how close is your lever when you cycle it?

yeah the button is lovely. I never use the kick starter up till the last trip i was on just to see what it was all about on this bike. I dont think i got even half way threw the stroke and the bike fired. Im in love with my Husky lol

Bigkurt, mine is the same as yours. There is a mark on the lever where it touches. I haven't done anything about it, as others have said : that little button fixes it!
I never had to use the kick starter, i only noticed when i tried to kick it just for the hell of it. I'm pretty sure when it was new it never touched, I had the motor mounts come loose on a ride so I'm thinking its moved back slightly?
