  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Kickstart shaft.......

Is there a certain way you have to put the kickstart shaft back in? (CR125) When I put it in then the idler gear and try and turn the kickstart, it all works as it should but then try it a few more times the 2 gears are still touching slightly when i release the kickstart.

still having problems with this guys. Thought I got it sorted, put the motor back in and now the kickstart gear isnt doing anything. When I try and kick the bike the kickstart just goes down and back again without engaging.I take it the kickstart gear isnt moving up the shaft as it should.

Looking at the parts diagram.....the clamp ( 8000 67016) that goes around the shaft.....if this has worn and is too loose would that cause the kickstart not to work?

you will have to inspect the mechanism, the clamp that you speak of applies friction to the kick start cog to stop it readily spinning but not enough friction to lock the cog just enough so the easy option is for it to slide along the throw out gear.
if this friction is not enough due to worn out clamp or some other binding in the throw out mechanism then the gear will not move outward and engage the idler gear to turn the engine.
hope this helps don't have a parts manual to refer from.
