• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What you guys using to stick these onto the clutch case everything ive tryed fails after a short time.

I used JB weld on mine. I am just finishing this bike so it's only been started a few times. Not sure on the longevity yet.

Tried jb but had better success with silicon i have glued it back down again with silicon but this time drilled a cavity in the rubber..who knows.

I have used contact cement, like to glue formica to a countertop or glue down rubber roofing. Also have used automotive weatherstriping cement that comes in a tube. My results have been less successful than what is original. I also note in 87-88 it is re-designed and a small bolt is used in a non squish area.

Thanks fran k might be next step as i had the recess filled with magnesium weld so plenty of meet to drill and tap for a fixing bolt.

P1010066.JPG The 87-88 is somewhat different as the clutch cavity is larger and some starter parts are different shaped. Note the little bolt is in a place that does not get too much squish. I would not add a bolt to an earlier design. Picture here looks like part of my stop has broke off. I am sure it is the kick back is the main problem. Probably an ignition that has a starting advance different than a running advance would help lots. The weatherstriping adhesive tube has remained useful for a few years, not sure exactly what I got it for in the first place. View attachment 76814

make sure you clean the side case & bumper with alcohol before using whatever adhesive you use...

Fran k you need to clean your bike looks like a potato field.

cleaning them just wears them out....there was a bloke called terry .... its gone...who used to contribute to ADB magazine years ago...a real tinker tuner. he had a 86 kdx 200 with a snail pipe, boost bottle, adjustable dogbone etc. every little gadget was on his bike and he never washed it ever. his argument was that modern cleaners destroy the seals and greases and wear out your suspension etc..let alone pressure washers.

May I share a secret. Besides using acid wash on Aluminum now. (learned from Anodizers) to prepare Al. Be careful here !

I have been using what the Gun coat people use.

tert-Butyl Acetate

Best and proven to be the best prep metal I have ever used. So far even have found it not to disturb the paint as other solvents do. Careful here to So
on the exposed Al side panel this ready case been a god send to me.

Al is the symbol for aluminum. The side exposed metal side panel on the Aluminum Tank is one go is a very tricky area
to get the paint/clear coat to stick.
Using this solvent has done wonders. It cleans fast. It evaporates faster than anything i have seen, It removes all oil etc and makes clear
stick.

This solvent can be used anywhere you want to clean and an to prepare something to stick. Like the rubber bumper on case
