  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Keyed Ignition on TE449

Husqvarna
AA Class
I recently picked up a factory ignition switch with keys from Malcolm Smith Motors. I talked with Wayne in Service and he said I just need to splice into the hot wire for the starter button. Has anyone had experience doing this? My bike is a 2014 model. Some folks have said the one from Sicassracing is a plug and play but I'm not sure which plug to connect to. Any help and/or pictures would be appreciated.

Yep, installed the Sicass Racing one as well. Super easy install. Only suggestion I would have, is to use the included mount. If you have Cycra's or similar guards, the stock key holder won't work. I just put their mount on one of my right side triple clamp bolts.

Still wondering why they deleted the key. I know they had to redo the loom for 12, but dropping the key was just plain lazy. I've been very careful with my wiring and take extra care where I spray water and have avoided seeing if my bike will play submarine. I check plugs and relays often and spray with DeOXit yearly.

I love having a "turn key race bike". So far at races I'm two for two with guys lining up next to me and taking a double take when they see me turn the key before the start.

Thanks for the link. Just emailed them re postage to UK.

If anyone in UK fancies one, let me know and I'll see if we can combine orders.

Cheers for link. Ordered couple up. Enlarged the whole in the blank OE plate and filed a keyway to secure. Easy install.

Now a little bit more secure at cafes. Ta.
