• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

keihin/ remote hot start?

g,day all,
i have a 07 TE450 husky with the keihin carb and the pull out hot start with the red button. i have a kit to convert it to remote with a custom cable, a ARC hot start lever that mounts to the magura clutch perch and a KTM kit for the carb end. i haven't started to do the conversion yet and wanted to ask how to attach the cable at the carb, do i just unscrew the button assembly or will bits fly out everywhere? is there anything special i should know? can i do it with the carb in place? any help would be great, especially if someone who has done this could offer up a step by step on the carb end??

cheers, and thanks in advance.

paul.

well, it's easy, you undo the hex and the red knob assembly slides out whole. you then put your pre assembled remote assembly in and tighten it. once mounted at the handlebar you adjust the cable to give a small amount of slack to ensure it is closed and you're away, well, i am.

Thanks for the feedback on installing it.
I guess you must be the first one here to make the change. Let us know how you like it.

no worries.
being very short i sometimes had trouble with keeping my footing on slippery or rocky hills after a stall or ahem, spill, especially when trying to find the hot start, i've eliminated that problem now by installing the remote. hoping to get out tomorrow so i'll post up how i get on.

paul.
