  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

K & N Oil Filter P/N KN-154

B Class
My dealer sold me a K & N filter (KN-154) for my 2009 TE310. When I looked up the part on the web it says no filters are available for the 09 TE310. This was also confirmed by K & N customer support.

Should I take it back or will it fit (properly)?

What oil filters are you using?

HF 154 was the 2008 filter. Some changes in 2009, hence the HF 563, a few more pleats and designed for a little more pressure in the system.

I'm not sure if your bike and the new 2010 TE 250 takes the same filter but there was a fubar in the part number and the parts warehouse was sitting on 5000 and sending dealers B/O notices.

We were using the Honda CRF250X filter til the release of the stock Husky ones.

HF-154 is actually good for up to 07's. HF-563 is the correct filter for 08-09 on the 250/450/510 bikes. I've been using 154's in my 08 510 with no issues so far after 2K miles although it doesn't mean it's right. I think George at Uptite is the one who brought this to our attention if I remember correctly.

'10 250 4S uses HF-116's, same as CRF150R and apparently CRF250X's. I suspect the HF-563's are good for '10 310/450/510 as well, but haven't verified it with a search. 2010 web info was not available at HF's website last time I looked.

A bit confusing, I know.
