  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

just picked up an 09 te 450. Need another master link for the chain

The binge had a two.tooth bigger sprocket in the rear and the tire is too close to the swing arm.. the chain is a brand new replacement chain according to the previous owner.. I need to lengthen it so I can move the wheel back further. I read that I can't use any old master link so where can I get.one? Thanks

Cycle shop will SOMETIMES sell you a master link, they will tell you that it needs to match the chain since all 520 chains are different widths....whatever.

Do you have an extra master link? If you do, I'd use it.

When I replace my chain, I always order an extra master link that goes with the chain I am buying and I put that link in my tool bag.

It's not just the width of the chain, the pins can be a different diameter too. I have a bunch of master links for 520 chain and none of them fit the stock chain on my 2010 TE

Ya that's what read. The pins are the problem.. I guess I'll just wait for the chain to stretch... it's not hitting the mud flap but it's pretty close to it. From what I read on the other threads in the forum its ok to be pretty close and that it helps with tight turning..

If the tyre is close to the mud guard then it might also grab/rub the exhaust pipe when you use the rear suspension travel. Mine did, but that was with a big fat Dunlop 606.
