  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just picked up a 2009 TXC 250 Have a few questions.

First I will say I am new to the forum and new to huskys, I normally spend some time over at thumpertalk.com and have had yamahas and hondas.
I picked this up from a friend, his dad passed and this was his bike. So I only know as much as his son knew about the bike. From what he told me he bought it new in 2009 and very soon after wanted to race the 200cc class (the whole family is big into GNCC racing). He had motor work done by maxrpms.net. To have it debored and possibly destroked. I have a spare motor and from what I can see from looking through the intake valves it has not been ran. I have 4 spare pistons, the order sheet I posted below says 6 so I assume one is in the bike and one is in the spare motor.

Bike is in great shape with only 7.4 hours on the rebuild. It is missing the entire front brake setup, the oil looks very milky, the bike starts but runs like the carb needs cleaned. I am very familar and comfortable with hondas and yamahas, but husqvarnas are foreign to me.

Few questions.

What should I do for a front brake set up? No luck on eBay, dealer is probably outrageous, and I do not know of any dealer around me. Maybe some other bikes will cross over with a simple mod? I see a lot of different brembo setups from other huskys on eBay.

Have any of you heard of deboring one of these or any bikes to run in the 200cc class? I will be giving maxpower a call on Monday to see if they can help me out, and provide me with all of what they did to this motor, maybe they have the info saved somewhere.

I appreciate the help and hope to learn a lot about these bikes.

Here are a few pics.

I hope this is just a water pump, I have a few spare head and base gaskets laying around and the whole other motor, If I am in a bind.

Sorry for the long post, any help will be much appreciated. Hope to be out ripping on this thing soon. Thanks guys!

A few updates, I spoke with maxrpm today about the engine and they are sending me specs, the motor was debored and destroked I did confirm (centerline of rod moved on the crank and the cylinder was made smaller). I am now dealing with trying to find a front brake set up. I see a lot of bikes have a 60mm center to center spacing on the caliper bracket. I need the larger 95mm center to center spacing which is proving harder to find. The cylinder head is cracked and I am searching around for the best place to get it fixed if that is even an option, I do not think I can lose any deck height on this motor, valves have already made contact with the cylinder wall. See pics. If any of you guys know where to find a used front brake set up again I would appreciate it. I am contacting sellers on eBay hoping I can find one that will fit from a different bike.

I suspect freezing led to this.
