  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC Just got the FE350!

I got the chance to put a lot of miles on one this weekend. Great bike !
I also rode a 300 with the electron. Very nice smooth electric power. Almost made me want a 300

unfortunately I didnt ride the bike with the stock exhaust. I was told by another guy who has the same bike that the exhaust and "Australian Race Map" changed this bike dramatically and really woke it up so I went right to that from the git go since I came from a 300 2s and a Husaberg 570 I knew I would want more umph. Couple hot laps around the yard yesterday had a big smile on my face!! I'll be putting a couple hours on it today so I'll have a better feel for it soon and dont expect to see the full power of the machine until I hit 5-10hrs. It took 11hrs before the power came on 100% on the 570 Husaberg..

keep us updated. Curious what improvement the exhaust makes. The fmf site says your combo improves the bottom to mid without taking away the top end rev.

Rode today for a couple hours on and off and its definitely a fun bike! I'm at least as fast as I was on my 300 and probably a litte faster. A buddy rode it who has a XC-w 350 and said mine definitely had more off the bottom into the mid than his stock bike for what it's worth. He thought for a minute it was a 450 with the snap and bark of that FMF system, it has a good deep 450 note.
Handling was real good very predictable and quick didn't feel heavy actually felt better than the 300. You do lean forward head over bars or fender more than the old black and red and it feels lower to the ground or the center of gravity is lower or something which I think is good. No snuff outs or anything weird but the rekluse and richer fuel map might be helping with that.

How did you get the Aussie map?

How did you get the Aussie map?

Did you have to re map for the exhaust ?

You dont "have to" remap for the exhaust but it doesnt cost anything and it will make the bike run much better when running a different exhaust, I've found even by adding a more open muffler without a header its beneficial to do a remap.

I asked the dealer to remap the bike for me once the exhaust was done and they added the Aussie map, they said it was the most powerful map they could give me.

Now that I have some time on the bike I have some thoughts on it.
I'm struggling with bar placement as of late going back and forth between position #2 & 3 and getting the controls set correctly, having a hard time getting everything to feel right. I got massive arm pump the last few rides and it feels like the throttle pull is stiffer than I'd like. Will pull tank and just make sure cables are routed nicely.
Another thing is the throttle position I feel like the bike has tons of snap at first but then the position which I ride mostly I tend to need to crank the throttle a bunch and that puts my wrist in a funky position. I've tried rotation the throttle way forward to cables pointing up and it just feels weird like I have to regrip to be comfortable riding in different positions.
Also the engine breaking is killing my corner speed and always find myself up a gear to high but the rekluse helps. Just need to retrain my brain I guess. I'm going to try stiffer engagement springs in the rekluse and see if that helps or not. I rode a buddy's kx250f with rekluse and I couldn't feel hardly any engine breaking and it was great just felt like I was always mooving forward, always.
Well I have a month break in racing to try and figure it all out! Haven't been running stabilizer lately, waiting on a top mount set up so I hope that helps some with the arm pump!

I use/train with a concept 2 rowing machine and that really helps with the arm fatigue. I hope you get the bar placement figured out soon, ergos are always fun to get set right. especially when your a goon like me...LOL
