  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just got a 2009 510SMR...few questions (with pics)

So I just picked up a '09. My first ever EFI bike. I have a power commander 5 on order and I already learned on supermoto junkie that I need to check the battery holder and fuel pump.

The bike has 2,200 miles...

(Please excuse all the multiples, not sure why imgur did that. There's only 4 pics in the album)

A few questions I have...

The previous owner did the FMF single pipe conversion, and I'm not sure if he did a good job or not...didn't really seem to be leaking, but it looks a little bit haggard.

I took a picture of the O2 sensor. Is it plugged or still active?

How can I tell if the power up kit has been added?

Any solid instructions for the fuel pump fix?

Do I have to do a Dyno run once I install the power commander? Or can I just use the maps that the power commander comes with?

The neutral light is intermittent. Is this common? Is there a fix for this?

Thanks!

Your O2 sensor bung is plugged, (inactive) there is more than likely a dead-end plug inserted into the connector under the tank where the O2 bung plugged in, or the bike wouldn't be running.

The power up kit has most likely been added, but has the ECU been freed up, tuned to allow full fueling? No real way to know this, you could fill up and ride agressively for 30-40 miles and then fill up again, it you are getting 25-35 MPG, the ECU is tuned for power up, if you get over 40 MPG, the ECU is most likely in stock configuration.

Lots of fuel pump threads here:

This is an article by Scott Summers detailing alot of things that can be done to the enduro version of your bike, some applies to you, some doesn't.
