• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just floating this idea.

The Mrs. wanted to go to Italy for our 10th. She wanted to go to Rome but I was just "Meh" over the idea.

Well, now she's deployed so we aren't going anywhere (I'm at home with the dogs, the cats and the tortoise named Franklin). She has stated she'd still like to go to Italy upon returning home.

Here's my proposition to the Mrs....

I've suggested we go to Pietramurata (Trentino) in stead of Rome. And, in stead of going during the Summer, maybe plan it for the late Spring - say April or May-ish.

And, if by chance there's an MXGP event going on, we take it in. You know, take in the local culture and all.

So, what does everybody think? Pretty fair idea, right?

Trentino Alto Adige is more Austrian.......(let the Northern Italians begin to yell). You are being silly, go to Rome it is mind boggling, you will see so many motos buzzing around like friggan street bangin moto gp anyway..... be sure to throw your 3 coins in the fountain (Fontana di Trevi) so you will be sure to return, (it worked for me time and time again). However: if you do go to a MXGP or a EWC event let me know in advance, no promises but there is a chance to get a good hook up for access at either of the shows.

If it were me spending your money. I'd be going to Italy near the end of September. The MXdN is in Maggiora this year. If you have never been to a des Nations race it is a must do. Such an amazing atmosphere. A total must do for a race fan.

I agree with robettaccio. If you don't see Roma you will never know what controlled chaos really looks like. Romans treat every commute like a GP! Grab a drink at a sidewalk cafe and watch the spectacle whizz by. Every corner has something that is at least 500 years old if not older. History on every street with sights and sounds you will never find anywhere else on earth. And Europe is much nicer in the fall in my opinion. Not nearly as crowded and very pleasant weather.

Guys, thanks for the input. And, I think you could be onto something here. I mean, just what if....and I mean "what if" we just happened to end up at the MXdN during our trip? :excuseme:

Just tell her you're fine doing all the sight seeing and stuff she likes so long as you get to take in a small local race should you come across one. Then just happen to be near Maggiora on the 25th and 26th. Everyone wins. :D

very close to Milano/ the Malpensa/Milano airport along with the lake country of northern Italia (Varese too), lots of great sights to see there.

If you have the chance to attend an MXGP or the MX of Nations in Europe, DO IT!!! I attended 2 500cc MXGP's in England and Holland back in the early 1990's and it was indeed an epic experience. The fans are off the charts and make noise whenever their fav. riders come around the track. As far as noise makers they use air horns, boat horns, chainsaws, you name it. Whatever makes a racket.

As good as the MXGP's are the MX of Nations are about 10 times better and larger. I attended 2 of these as well. One in Austria and the one here at Budd's Creek in Maryland. Huge crowds, lots of National pride with people dressed up and painted up in their Country's colors. If you have the chance to be a part of it, don't pass it up.

Thanks guys. I still have a little bit of time. She's gonna be gone for while.

I don't think we'll make it Maggoria, however. She won't be authorized her two-week R&R until late Fall/early Winter.

Noobee, you're gonna have to bring some beer to Gorman....so I can cry in it.

Gotcha covered buddy. Luckily that new 250 is there for you.

Any time and any part of Italy is great (except Rome in mid summer). For mine, Rome is an exceptional experience and I usually go in Jan/Feb-not as many tourists, Hotels and restaurants are keen for a buck.
