• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So it all started this Sept when i had a hard head on. Bent triples and forks on my much loved 09 WR144. Also took out the pipe and various other bits. Bike is in parts ever since.

Flash forward to riding the 94 WXC250. Great backup bike, and excellent winter bike with great power and grip heaters. that bike started running bad, it was a base gasket. Went to replace it and noticed the cylinder is toast. Crap, ripped it off and sent it to the platers.

Next up is my 86 WR400. Fun bike, like riding it. Took it out to a local ride area, went to start it and snap, broke the center case, right behind the kick starter**************************************** Fark. Good luck is Motosportz Mike has a center case for it, need to get it to JR to do the quick swap out.

So on to the 95 ATK406. also a very fun bike. Had not ridden it in a while and seem to remember the motor getting noisy. Yep, rode it and theres a bearing going. Tore into it and found it was the lower connecting rod bearing!!!

So i guess 4 bikes is not enough for bike smasher. :banghead:

I've gotten lucky lately in that sense as my bikes have been unscathed recently. I'm feeling your pain though... especially those forks. Hope you can get those salvaged.

At least you had this happen in the middle of winter and not in the prime riding seasons. So I guess your luck isn't all bad.

I was thinking the same thing

i like "cupcake the bike killer" better....:busted:

when they all fail at once at least they all get fixed at once hopefully. your new prob will be deciding which one to ride when they are. and 3 of them scoots had how many zillions of hours on them? i'd need therapy if they all went at once like that. well- more therapy than i normally need anyways. :p

Kelly,

Have you talked to the Marzocchi rep in CA? They had a bunch of New parts returned from Zip Ty for the zoch TC 50's. I was able to get a new leg from them for a bargain. Call Les as he was the one that did the repair work and knows the guy at Marzocchi. I was told by the rep that if they had to order the slider and upper tube that I was looking at "Months" turn around time. Also Bill's might have a set of new take off's sitting in their shop. I bought a set and had Les re-valve them. They are the complete triple tree/bearings/bar mount/ and forks.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck, Cupcake.

Sounds like you have a lot of bikes and do alot of riding ;) ... 3-4 four of your issues were on bikes well over a decade old ... so you also get alot of repairs in this case :( ... too bad on the head on but U can have easily been bent also so it was actually a ~good crash ...

Fix all those issues and U will be good for another decade , maybe ... that 449 will help take the load off here .. :)

Good responses guys, thanks. Yes the TXC would be real handy right now. So would a new 449 I can't afford but am buying anyway. Dan, the 490 is a great bike but a BEAST int he tighter stuff i ride. Will get through but not in a hurry. Rod kit should be here for the 406 today and might be all buttoned up by this weekend. The cylinder for the WXC is with Motosportz Mike and will get and new lease on life shortly. The WR400 has located it's new center cases so it will get done some time semi soon. All is good. And I have a surprise visitor to the garage I'll dump on you later today, no not a 449/511 (I wish) but still kinda COOL.

my uncle is a rotax importer for the US..can get you those ATK parts

WOW, good to know. PM or post his info here if you would. Is his name Randy or Randall?

Surprisingly a rod kit for the 406 was EZ to find and just over $200. Nice. (Rod, bearing, pin, shims) The Rotax is a good looking well built motor inside.
