  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just Bought a 13 TE511

Husqvarna
A Class
I'm a new member here and am excited to be getting a new 2013 TE511! This bike will replace my 2001 KTM LC4 that had over 70k miles on it. I loved that bike a lot but it was getting really worn out and I was looking for something more dirt oriented yet still a dual sport. I race enduros and cross countries in the A Vet class and race an occasional Endurocross. For that, I have a 2012 KTM 350XC-F that works perfect.

I am a Yamaha/KTM/Husky dealer and I have had a lot of experience this winter with a 12 TXC511 with a Mountain Horse kit installed (The bike pictured in my profile) but have yet to try one on the dirt.

I do have a Dynojet dyno and I will be doing some testing on an FMF slip on and later, a PCV. I'm really looking forward to getting time on this new bike and learning from the rest of you on here.

Welcome to the Husky club! So you're the guy who got that 1 mountain horse kit huh? I've been looking into becoming a mountain horse dealer for the upcoming season. A good way to test some of our prototype Husky and KTM products in the winter. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the 511 in the dirt. Especially as it sounds like you have a racing background.

had two LC4 KAtooms...2002 Duke II and a 2004 SMC 625. total canyon killers. i LOVED those machines and am kicking myself daily for dumping them. cant find em now good luck. welcome and enjoy.

Yes! Congrats on your new toy. If possible can you tell us what you think of it in stock form before you mod it? I'm thinking of adding one to the garage before they don't exist anymore and I am very slow to throw parts on bikes.

Welcome and congrats on the new bike. I'd be very interested in seeing your Dyno results when the time comes. I've got the Powercore 4
muffler on my 511 and the PCV. It's a great combo and the PCV is the cure all solution for all my FI related issues, Flame outs, flat spots, etc..
plus the added power and crisp throttle response made it well worth the money for me.
What is a Mountain Horse kit, btw ?

Yes, I am the guy that got the ONE Mt Horse kit. LOL I sent Allan at Timbersled the bike to use for measurements to make a kit for the Husky's. Problem is, it works incredibly good and he only made the one and I couldn't get any more. I have sold 9 TXC511's to use for Mountain Horses next year so my customers will be snow checking kits.

I really am interested to see how the bike works in the dirt. I've raced 300 KTM's since 1997, a Honda XR650R in Baja, put 70K plus miles on my poor old LC4, and last year raced a 2012 KTM 350XC-F in enduros and cross countries. I think the 511 will be an awesome dual sport for the type of riding I like to do. Time will tell!!!

I will dyno the bike stock, Power Core 4 installed, Power Core and jumper wire, then later with the PCV installed. Very interested to see the results.

Amazing! I didn't realize they could handle snow that deep!

We were in powder over the bars on Monday. The Mountain Horse is a deep snow specific kit unlike others that have been on the market for years that didn't work in deep snow. Most of my buddies (and I) that used to ride snowmobiles in the winter are selling them. I've only ridden my sled once in weeks. The bikes are way more fun and can go places a sled won't. Incredibly fun!

Welcome. I am new too, just bought am left over 2012 TE511. Having a lot of fun, upgrading and playing with new
toy! Good luck with your new one.

I just bought a 2013 and love it, saw your vid it looks f'n sweet! But 9k for A bike and another 6k for a kit ? You must not have kids! That and you actually get to ride!

I've been selling brand new TXC511's for $7400 OTD with the rebates and the kit is $6100 so $13,500 for both. Same price or less than a new sled and WAY more fun! Plus you have a toy you can use all year around instead of a sled sitting in your garage for months at a time. I sold my sled and KTM LC4 640 to buy the TE511 I have coming. I do have kids! LOL I have 16 and 18 yo girls.
