• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just a few Questions. EFI !! First time Husky owner !!

C Class
I have been reading all the post here on the EFI. I just purchased a 2010 TXC 250 which is in route from the distributer. I have not asked the dealer yet on any issues with the EFI. I thought I'd hit up the true experts on here first. I guess the first question is will this 2010 have the most recent flash and will it be effective? Second, power commander just finished their application with an optional auto tune. Are these worth the cost? Third, once you start with either the ibeat, and power commanders how sensitive are these bikes once there programed? I guess I am just hoping that I don't have to tweak this thing everytime I ride. But at the same point I don't want it to fall on it's face 20ft short of a take off so to speak. And finally will this thing come with restrictions? Spark arrester, throttle stop etc.. Give me some updates !! Thanks

Welcome aboard OP_9!

As far the latest ECU firmware, maybe someone can post the different revision numbers that are shown in iBeat. With that info, the dealer can connect iBeat and verify if it's the latest. If it's not I would suggest you have the dealer perform the re-flash at sometime.

The first thing your going to need to do is get about 500 miles on the engine to loosen it up before you start to make too many assessments on performance.

As far as iBeat vs. PCV, some have had good luck with iBeat making the adjustments to the 3 fuel map settings without the need to add on the extra hardware of PCV & AT. Others have been happy with adding the PVC with and without AT. Within the next month I'm going to have the opportunity to test a 2010 TXC 250 with iBeat and add PCV & AT. PCV can do things that iBeat can't and iBeat can do things like TPS calibration and error code reading that PCV can't. If you a have good dealer support and they're not too far away, you may not need to have your own iBeat setup.

With either solution, once you find the right settings you won't need to be readjusting unless you just like to tinker.

I Know this doesn't answer all you questions, but after you get time on the bike I'm sure you will even more.

I think your most important concern is about the dealer making sure the ECU is updated since it appears to have fixed the off-idle-1/4 throttle issues.

Glenn Kearney took 3rd in the latest GNCC on a 2010 TXC 250. This bike has moved him nearer to the top riders. So, yes it works.

seymore,
Thanks, I appreciate all your knowledge there. I will give an update here once I get some time on her.
