  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Joining the husky family

Hi everyone, to start things off thanks to everyone for keeping the forum and these bikes alive.

Since this is my first post I'd like to say that I am thinking about joining the husky family pretty soon if all goes well. I currently have a KTM 640 sm which I absolutely love, but thankfully or not I recently drove a a friend's husky 510 smr from 2008 which he just rebuild and converted from efi to an fcr 41 carb. Let's just say that I have completely fallen for the bike. To get to the point and not waste people's time, the questions I have are the following (including a bit more info of course about my mindset). The options where I live are kinda weird, either a 450 te from 08+ which I far prefer the looks of, and which will be converted to supermoto, or a few 06 510 smr. To be completely honest I love the looks of the 08+ bikes and since I have already driven one it looks like my best option. The main issue I have is that this friend of mine has had major issues with the efi which even though he's quite mechanical inclined he only managed to fix by converting the bike to a keihin which let's just say was a bit of a pain especially when it came to sourcing the parts. Would you guys say that maybe with something like a power commander the fueling can be "fixed" or should I just go with a carbed bike and """compromise""" on the looks department.

Thanks to everyone in advance
