  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Jetting new Keihin for 300

Husqvarna
AA Class
Just recieved my Keihin 38 from Motosportz. My altitude is arond 5' to 6000'. The bike has a Gnarly pipe and a Turbine Core muffler on it. I was planning on running a 45 pilot, 170 main and the JD red needle on the 3rd (middle) clip. How does that sound? I also have a DDJ needle and a N1EC needle in my tool box. Would any of those needles work better?
Thanks

Hello! I don´t know what temps you have, but if you have above zero it sound rich to me. I run at sealevel and have around 50F now. My jetting is as follows:

Red JD in 2nd from top

42 pilotjet, 2 turns out on airscrew

180 mainjet

2,8% oilmix

And have in mind that i have 15/38 gearing which puts more load on the engine. I would try 1st clip from top, 35 pilot and 165-170 mainjet.

If you are going to try another needle, try the EEL for more responsive bottomend power. Red JD is a little smoother from the bottom(easier when you get tired!)

Good luck!

Johnny

the red needle in the 2nd clip was pretty rich and spoogey for me. the bike ran perfect in the mountains (5000-8000') with a 40 pilot, red #1 and 170 main.

Now that it's cooling off, i swapped to 42 pilot, blue #1 and 172-175 main for the desert (2500-4000') and that seems to be pretty good there.
