  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Does anyone have a picture of the electronic connection that the controller plugs in to? The supplied instructions are unclear and don't match up (location, wire colors etc)

dont have the pic but the plug is at the very back of the throttle body. It's the hardest one to get to. It is the one that's attached directly to the throttle body.
they sure could improve the directions on this.

The red and white wired thing here...

Curious, is it best to come in from the left or right, or is it possible to access from the top with the seat removed?

I used a long thin screwdriver to press on the release (top side) and then it wiggled right off, other have used long needlenose pliers. But yes I did it from the right, engine cold (that pipe is too close)

Where are you folks mounting the JD Tuner on your 449/511? I just ordered mine and don't really want to mount it on the bars as I've seen some do.

Mine is stuck on the back side of the plastic next to the headlight. It's pretty well protected from water and everything and still easy enough to program
with thumbs.

I disconnected mine from the right side using both a long, flat blade screwdriver and a pair of long needle nose. Looked like a surgeon. Mounted the controller to the middle of the handlebars for experimenting, but I like the idea of getting it out of the way once satisfied with the settings. Don't feel alone in the frustration of finding the right connector, I almost gave up on it and sent the damn thing back.

I `phoned them from Germany (shows how frustrated I was). They were VERY helpful, and sent me a load of pics taken by various customers. I didn´t snap the fuel line back properly and it came off in a tunnel on the Autobahn. So check that and see if you can pull it off without releasing the catch. Anzwaz, the fun starts with experimenting the settings.

thats how i did mine and did it right where i took the pic I posted above. I have Velcro on the handlebars (for fine tuning) and then move it to behind the headlight shell when not messing with it.

805rider did you successfully get it on? I just attempted installation of mine and that connector did not match up with the connecters on the tuner (none of the ones I saw did) and there aren't even any red wires down there lol. I've read that the 2012 has a different electrical system so maybe that has something to do with it... Or maybe I'm just being dense and missing something.

So I decided to try one of these , read so many good things.
How can I get a set JD fm Europe ??? for my TE449...

JDHQX04 - Husqvarna TE449/511 (10-12) EFI

JD might ship internationally. If not we (motosportz) sure can. Email me if you need one and can't seem to find it local or shipped.

I think you are looking at the wrong plug, should be the same. it is the one attached directly to the injector itself and shown in my picture.
