• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Is this really February? 02/06/15

I was thinking the same thing today. It was 6 deg. Thursday and its 55 today. Lovin me some global warming!

Well, at least the trail wasn't dusty...that looks fun. Is this the Corral Canyon area?

Other than occasional rain storms it has been spring like riding here as well. Love it. Snow has been non existent this year and my snow loving freinds are not happy.

It's raining and snowing mucho today where it counts. Man I wish I could go ride. We have light showers here at the tail of the storm and perfect traction. Unfortunately, well actually fortunately, my suspension is at Zip Ty. Hoping to get it back in the next week so I can get some adjustment time before the next race.

heres one of my riding areas i was at today...about 8 inches on the trails, a foot maybe where its virgin. no i was not on a snowmobile!Photo575.jpg
figured kellys neck of the woods would be about like this. surprised hes still muddy

You made that look easy on your 125 bike and your vision must be pretty good to spot blood from that far ....

The wide angle lens makes it look like I'm a lot further away than I really was. I was probably 30 feet away at the very most, and had an up-close and personal view of the crash. I was disappointed at how far away and devoid of detail the crash looked on the clip.

And yes, the little 125 kicks butt and takes names out on the trail!

We have had nearly zero snow below 3000 feet this year. Great ride conditions. This week looks fantastic. light rain today and the rest of the week is int he 60's and semi sunny. Wooohooo

Yep. I do what I think are epic vids and they look flat and ho hum on playback. You have to literally be on someone tire to make it look even semi close. Wish gopro made a less wide angle model.

I use an early model (2012) Contour.

I think the video capabilities are very good........and optioned........but the microphone is way too sensitive and has to be muffled various ways.

The company has been in and out of bankruptcy but the Contour is a very good unit and has lost a lot of market presence to GoPro, but is now available used at good prices.

jmho

The contourRoam I use is still ok enough for me also ... I guess it is the contrast or something that drives the video quality downwards in direct sunlight sometimes ... I try to ride on the cloud covered days as much as possible to get the light correct for the camera ... That sliding on-off is what I like most about it ...

The gopro guys partnered with some Chinese company a few yrs back so don't expect them to go anywhere ... Has anyone ever went belly-up after partnering with the Chinese? I know the Japanese had a rough time in Hawaii land deals a couple decades back .. Seems the Chinese are batting 100 currently?

I have heard that the newest generation of GoPros are somewhat less "fish eye" wide angle. I have one of the first generation HD versions, and probably won't be having any money freed up to get one of the #4 versions any time soon.:(

The new gopros have settings that allow you to change between narrow, medium and wide angle...
