• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Is there a good brake up grade for te610?

Dwahl

Husqvarna
AA Class
2007 te 610, front brake rotor is really worn out.

what I would like is an oversized rotor and caliper adapter. I have seen EBC makes on for the sm, would it fit on the te?

are there any other companies that make a good rotor?

I carry passengers a lot, and the extra stopping power would be nice.

thanks

Call BMP - They may have a setup of rotor, caliper, and spacer you will need. They are familiar with the swap.

I know because I swapped over to an SM Rotor and Caliper. I just recently swapped back because I would loose (bleed out?) pressure which made me have to double pump the front brake. I believe this is because I had the stock TE front brake cylinder. There is a difference between the SM and the TE front brake cylinder's. So in short, if you do this swap then also try to find the brake master cylinder assembly also.

There is an EBC kit to run a bigger rotor and a bracket to move the caliper out. This will work on your TE, except you'll need to redrill and tap the mounting holes in the hub. I have this kit for my SM wheels and it works well.

The parts off an SM will not bolt up, I do not think. I believe that the rotor and caliper mounts are different (and you'll need the SM master, as stated above).

However, if you ride the bike offroad I would definitely NOT run the larger rotor. You don't need any more stopping power (stock brakes are good), and you'll just smash it on rocks/roots and carry more weight (and cost!). For offroad I'd just get a new rotor and decent pads.

I contacted andy at cycle brakes and he found an ebc kit for the te, I believe it is the 320mm rotor.

edit-

andy was very helpful and took his time to find exactly what I wanted. it is the 320mm ebc brake kit. cost: 229 and change.

thanks for the replies!

There's an ebc 280 mm upgrade kit for the te610. I'm interested in getting this for my te630. anyone know if the 610 and 630 have the same brake specs?

got my ebc brake kit today, will post pics when its installed. looks really good, but they really stress its a race only brake upgrade

The TE and SM front hubs are the same except that the SM brake rotor has 8 bolt fixing points as apposed to 4.
That is to say a SM rotor will still fit directly.

The SM rotors use 8mm thick bolts ant the TE rotors use 6mm thick bolts. The TE hubs usually have to be drilled and tapped to run the SM rotors.

I have the opposite problem...trying to mount 2006 610sm wheels on a 2014 TXC310 for street use. No problems at the rear wheel, but trying to mount the 260 mm front rotor to the front hub I'm running into hardware problems. Like many pointed out the SM hub is drilled for M8 bolts and the TXC rotor accepts M6 bolts.

I'm thinking about drilling out the rotor holes and finding a type of M8 bolts that would be a decent fit...it is an extra rotor I bought, so the stock wheels with knobbies have their own rotor.Does that sound like a good idea?
