• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I noticed a nice little cut where I must have ran over some glass on my road bike.
Is it a danger to ride it like this or is it OK?

People hand cut slick Tyers all the time . This is no different really
Poke something in there and make sure the glass is not still in there that will make a flat when u least need it . Other than that I'm not sure what you thought would actually happen

Nothing really... just concerned that a deep cut may cause failure of the structural integrity of the tyre, therefore causing death or permanent disfigurement.

I don't know about road tyres, that's why I ask if a little slice is superficial or if it will rip apart catastrophically at speed making me and my bride take an unscheduled trip off the side of the road

It's fine we get them all the time. Looks like you've only got a few hundred miles left on that tire anyway so if it worries you like said above replace it

Totally fine. The structure of the tire is in the steel and/or nylon braids underneath the rubber.

I got lazy one time and decided that instead of breaking the bead I would just cut the old tire off. I ended up having to break the bead anyway, I couldn't get the entire tire apart!!

Thanks guys. I presumed the tyre can't break up from this but multiple opions are better than one.
Only got about 5000km outta it. Guess that's a lot more than you get out of a knobby

road tires disintegrate, chunk and peel off. Just watch some tire failure racing viddies and you'll change it. don't mess with it. change it its near lifecycle anyway.

I only get between 4 and 5000 k's on my multistrada. I cant see how guys get 10,000k's or more. Might be a right wrist issue?

The Tracer is a fairly fast bike but the power isn't too agressive so thought I'd get a bit more than that from the tyre.
My throttle application grades from tame and sedate to wheelie angry when I'm around traffic (I hate being on the bike in traffic)
I will change it out soon for sure.

The mutli has a lot of torque compared to most motorcycles too. Torque and wrist combination eats tires. I could get ~10k miles out of one of these Dunlop's on my Daytona.

We average about 3000 miles out of our rears, Dunlop Q3's or Michelin Pilot Powers so 10K your doing very well.

When l was low budget road racer, plugged a just scrubbed slick once and rode a clubby race at the Island with no issues? It's only a slight cut but looking at the wear marks, you're in for a new tyre soon anyway!!
