  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Iridium plug?

I have a 2011 511 txc, and I heard that replacing the stock NGK plug with an Iridium plug enhances performance. What brand and model would you recommend? Thank you for your input.

I NEVER had much luck with irdium plugs i used NGK plugs in all my bikes 2Ts im not to sure how much of a performace gain you can get from a plug but the std plug out lasts the more expensive iridium by a long shot

Made a difference on my 610. I wouldn't say it enhanced performance but it seemed to idle smoother and run a little better with the iridium. Don't
know about the 511 but I'd be interested in hearing any feedback from anyone who has used it on a 449/511.

I have a ngk cr8eix in the 250. I dont think it changed anything. it made a huge difference on our 610, though, with the surging problem.

Stared using them some winteres ago (4 I think) biggest noticable difference is the ease of starting a cold bike. Second the burble backfiring diminshed on decel. I honestly believe the bike ran cooler and possible got slightly increased mpgs. I have used then on a 510, 450, 2x 310's and a 250 WRF. I am a convert. In summnation it is a lot a little plusses rather than one major improvement.

I have run one on my KTM 505. Biggest thing is it helps starting as mentioned above. I have not had one fail. I replace it once a year whether it needs it or not.

dont spose anyone can tell me if a denso iw24 iridium plug would be ok to run in my 2010 wr300(standard is br8eg). not sure on heat range. got given 3 of em nothing & was told theyd be sweet but just wanna double check-hate to melt a hole in me piston!
