• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Just wanted to say hi. My brother and I picked up a 1986 WR 400 about a month ago. So our dive into the world of "Vintage Left Kickers" was immediate and been quite the little journey so far. I never thought I would be a daily Ebay surfer, but boy was I wrong! Finding "official" data on these bikes has been quite the scavenger hunt. I even used Google Archive to go back to 2012 to pull some old files from this site.

Looking forward to reading all the threads and telling stories!

Welcome to the land of the Vintage Husky. You'll find plenty of helpful members here. With respect to vintage Huskys, you'll soon discover that you can't have just one.

welcome and the bike looks pretty decent! youll find these bikes have some quirks but are rewarding and durable when set up right. post some more pics!

Welcome Steve, I have downloaded some '86 to '88 parts and workshop manuals before they disappeared not long ago, let me know if you want copies.
Tony.

Awesome! I think I have them. I have the 86 2 Stroke Engine Repair Manual, and the 86 Owner Manual, and the 86 Data Sheet. Are those different than what you have? I'd be happy to share as well.

You know it! I'm headed down south of Denver later today to pick up a 84 WR 400 erector set. :) (Bike is in boxes)

Well I bought the other Husky $350. Only after doing a VIN search, it's a 1986 XC 400 .... now the weird part. After looking up the VIN and comparing it to the WR 400 VIN, my two Husqvarna's are only 497 bikes apart! What are the chances of that happening! Pic is bad, we had to wash the mouse droppings off before we took it home.
