• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Intake Carb, Reeds, Manifold???

Bigbill

Husqvarna
Pro Class
Let's talk abut the intake setup?

I have a few choices, one a 390/430 mossbarger reed assembly. Second I / we have the HVA V-Force reed assembly. Third I have the orginal Husqvarna reed assembly with boyzeen reeds. Mossbarger offers new reeds for the mossbarger manifold. I been thinking about which reed assembly to use on what bike.

1. '82 430CR
2. 80 390cr
3. 79 250cr

Are the V Force reeds that good? Better than the mossbarger? A little reed education.

I plan on using the thunder products UFO in all my carb sleeves.

Depends if you have built them as bottom end or top end motors, softer petals or dual stage might be better for a lugger and a stiffer set up for a screamer.no idea about mossbarger and probably have to compare the two side by side on a stock engine.

The only experience I've had is with the boysen reeds. You will have to re jet with the 2 piece reeds.

I / we have to jet leaner with the boyesen reeds and the UFO in the bottom of the slide. I think I'm going to try different reed setups in different engines.

82 430cr v force, w/UFO
80 390cr mossbarger if they offer new replacement peddles. With the UFO
79 250cr boyesen reeds w / UFO.

Mossbarger makes the reed assembly for the 82 & up rectangle reed box for the 250, 430, 500. I'm not sure what year the 430 changed to the rectangle reed box.

I wish I had a dynamometer to see the difference between the flow of the different brands of reed setups. For you guys who run the v force reeds is there a big difference?
