  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Injector over supply of fuel... TE511 (2011)

Dallas

Husqvarna
AA Class
I bought a JDtuner for my 2011 HUSQVARNA TE511 a little while ago, had it running but i have encountered a problem. I am not close to any bike mechanic that can help me so if you can offer any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

After I installed the tuner i was testing different settings because with the default settings engine was dying at high speed with full throttle. So i lowered some of the ranges and this fixed the dying at the high end.
In trying to find the "mean" settings i lowered some of them a bit more, went to take the bike for a run.... and bike stopped, bit of smoke and fuel fumes pouring out of exhaust. now cannot start. Indications of bike getting too much fuel but considering i was leaning out the settings, not making them richer! therefore doesn't make much sense.

I disconnected the JDtuner and plugged original plug back into fuel injector, still won't start.
I checked for spark and all good there... but then noticed alot of fuel exiting the plug port upon cranking. (too much fuel)
I have removed fuel injector and tested outside the bike, upon cranking the fuel injector sprays a constant "heavy spray" of fuel until i stop cranking (it's like the injector stays fully open and fully on) and then the spray dies down to a stop when I stop cranking, doesn't snap shut off!
At this stage i think the fuel injector has something stuck in it or it has died. I have tried compressed air in reverse direction while toggling power to the injector to see if any obstruction could be dislodged. (no luck)

So i either have a dead fuel injector of have somehow wiped the ECU (but I can't see how I could have done that)
I have put a test light across the 2-wires that hook to the injector and cranked the engine... light lights up and dims out a little while cranking but it seems to be constant, its a bulb type test light and slow to react to any high rate flashing "if there was any".

new info.. I bought a new injector and no difference (waste of $180)
while I had the tank out exploring other idea's I decided to fully flush out both fuel tanks (as i was very surprised to see a fair amount of crap in the first tank and a little bit in the second tank). Anyway I took the fuel pump out of the tank and noticed that filter in the tank was black... I wondered if that was normal or not (didn't know) so I just put it all back together.

is it fair to say it's fooked being black? and if it is fooked then would that cause an over supply of fuel? I would have thought if fooked then it would starve the injector?

unplug the injector but leave the fuel line on the rail. hit the starter and see if you still get a spray. sounds like the injector is grounded out- so I'm thinking a wiring problem (fray, short, did you take any terminals out?)

are you getting an error indicated on the dash?

Hey guys forgot all about getting back onto this thread.. but DO NOT EVER PUT A JD-TUNER ON THESE BIKES they will destroy your ECU (as it did with mine and for at least 6 other husky owners that I know of)
JD-Tuner refunded my money for the tuner but refused to compensate me for the new ECU. I will never deal with JD again and i suggest others to think twice before buying their products.
