• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

IMS tank on TE630.....nearly done!

Homerb

Husqvarna
AA Class
I'm nearly done fitting the 20 litre IMS tank to my 630. Got the tank physically fitted to the bike.
Just finishing off the fuel pump mod. I'm not using an auxilliary tank, I think I've worked out a way around that. Next couple of days will see it sorted I hope. If anyone's interested, I'll post a how to thread.

I am very interested. A larger fuel tank with no auxiliary tank, I would like to see the how to and some pictures.

Yeah me too....

Was toying the idea to fit the IMS on my 610efi using external fuel pump...show some pics pls...if it works...gonna order the IMS right away.

There's gonna be a slight delay. I've decided that in order to mount the external fuel pump where I want to, I need to swap to a single muffler setup, which I was planning to do anyway. I've got a new Staintune muffler ready to be fitted, just got to get it booked in to the muffler guy to fab the new mid pipe.
On a side note, I saw a 610 with the 26 litre Safari tank today. Pretty glad I didn't go that way. Made a great looking bike bloody ugly.

I hope it works out for you. Keep us posted.

Here's a sneak peek of my external fuel pump setup.

The original fuel pump has a small reservoir fitted to it which is gravity fed from the IMS tank. I'm going to mount it vertically behind the passenger footpeg bracket. It should be safe and out of the way there. The metal fuel filter can be mounted anywhere between the pump and the fuel pressure regulator, which will be mounted inside the tank.
Here's a closeup of the modified pump.

The reservoir pump body is made from a brass bushing I found at an engineer supply shop. If I had access to a lathe I would have made it from aluminium.
The fittings were brazed on so it should be strong enough. The pump was glued in with marine JB Weld.

Since looks were the reason why you went with the IMS tank I'm curious to see a photo of it on your bike. I realize you're not done with the fuel pump solution yet but could just sit the tank on the bike and snap a pic.

Not just looks. The Safari is too big for my needs and too expensive. I actually refitted the stock tank today to go for a ride! I'll see if I can get a photo of the IMS tank on the bike tomorrow.

Ask and you shall receive.
Bear in mind, the original tank shrouds are still to be fitted.

Should look nice after you get the tank shrouds mounted. I think the black IMS would look real good with the contrasting red shrouds also.

Thought about getting the black tank, but because I'm not going to be using the fuel level switch, and wont have the low fuel light, I need to be able to see the fuel level in the tank.

Looking good....would love to see it with the shrouds....bcoz I might be goin the same direction and ask a friend to carbon fibre the shrouds align with the adv fairing o my 610.

My buddy Sam's 2009 with the black IMS tank. I think it looks good:

The clear tank is good if you have no low fuel sensor - I wish I had done that with my Safari tank. Or you may be able to use the sensor from the original pump?

If your setup passes a reliability test (a thousand miles
or so), you could probably sell the outfit as a kit...

Bike is in getting the Staintune fitted now. Could take up to a week. Can't wait to get it back and get the new tank sorted. Sorry about the delay.

Me too. The exhaust guy is actually in a wheelchair after a bike crash, so I don't feel like I can hassle him too much about hurrying up.
Said it should be done in the next few days. I'm as impatient as you are!

For those waiting for an update, here's some photos showing where I had to heat and mould the tank to clear the radiators, etc.
I used a heat gun to soften the tank, and some G clamps to push on the softened tank till it cooled.DSCF7508.JPGDSCF7512.JPGDSCF7513.JPG
