• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I've sold the WR 300... and its not a good feeling. Since acquiring the TXC 250, I've been in a gigantic quandry about which bike I need to keep since I really can't justify (or afford) 2 bikes. I loaded the WR 300 on the MX hauler about an hour ago. Tomorrow it will be delivered to a local buyer who will ride it to its full capabilities. He's an "A" class Hare Scramble rider who appreciates the bike for what it is. One of those guys you instinctively know is a cool dude from the moment you shake his hand.

But since I've loaded the bike and backed the GMC into the garage, I've been out to look at my beloved 300 about 10 times.

I know I'll be kicking myself in the ass for this.

If my toy budget would have allowed you would have been getting a PM from me and I would be heading south. I did not think it would take long to sell.
Sorry for your loss, but hey that 2010 250 TXC is very fine. Figure I would give you something to look forward too.
Toy Tech has one on the floor (hint hint)
 
Wow,...I really hate to hear that.
I thought the TXC 250 was the boy's,...to race,...after you sold his CR125. I guess I really should learn to pay attention.
 
You almost brought me to tears.
After riding some nasty trails yesterday and lugging my 300
up some steep rocky hills, thinking "this is trials bike territory",
I came away thinking "this bike can do anything" even with the
worn out stock rear tire!

Did you buy a 2010, I saw Kearny was on a '10 250 4st at the last GNCC.

If there is a positive in this, it's that you gave an A rider a chance
to try the Husky brand :thumbsup:
Did you tip off the new owner to Cafe Husky?
I hope he kicks some A$$ with his new bike

The original plan was for the kid to race the TXC. He didn't "bond" with a 4 stroke, but I did... things went south from there. He's back on a 2 stroke pumpkin (ACK!), and I fell in love with the TXC.

Trust me. I'm convinced the WR 300 is the fastest, most manly 2T 300 on the market, bar NONE (and I've ridden them all except the Beta). I'm just not man enough to take full advantage of its capabilities. The TXC just seems to be more "old fat man friendly".

I will definitely miss the 300's brute force when I'm wrenching the TXC's throttle on a fire road or rail bed trying to launch myself into old man nirvana... because I know the TXC just won't "get there" no matter how much I twist. I've never been brave enough to keep the 300's throttle open for more than 15 seconds. It never quits pulling. It scared me.

Naw, I got an '09 TXC 250 and love it.

I told the buyer about CH and he told me he's been here checking things out. I wanted him to research the bike here before he committed and he did. I hope to see him here soon as a regular. He's a great guy. He's currently racing a Gas Gas 250.

Oh well,...You'll have a blast on any Husky you own. And besides, I get the feeling that you're a bit of a restless wanderlust soul anyways.
You get tired of stuff and want to try everything once,....don't you?
I'm gonna miss you as a WR300 brother,...you've helped me a lot with mine and I really appreciate it. But I suppose there are owners of other models that need your help too. So enjoy whatever you ride, as I know you will,.....but mark my words,....One day you'll return to the smokey dark side,...and we'll be waiting to welcome you back with open arms!

The lucky one!

Well, one mans heart is broken and another man expands his love! I'm the lucky one! I'm getting Kreig's WR300, nervous but excited, I can't wait to see if we get along like I hope we can. I am classified as an "A" rider in my local series, the NCHSA. I've been injuried the last 2 years and haven't gotten to race very much, but if I can stay healthly for a while I plan on racing again. My heart is really into just riding gnarly single track and having fun! Thats what riding is all about anyway. Don't worry Kreig I'll take good care of it.:thumbsup:

Thanks Rusty. I am a bit of a wanderlust. But I'm trying to reign things in of late. Having 2 bikes in the stable just didn't make sense. One of them had to go. I'm just happy the 300 is going to someone who understands.

Welcome to CafeHusky, redbone :cheers: And congrats on the new 300 :thumbsup: It's great to have you here.

I'm very interested in hearing your comparison of the WR300 to your GG250. We've got a DE300 and an ECO250 in the garage and Eric is intrigued by the WR300. I really like the GG300 motor, as it's easier to ride than the 250, but Eric really likes them both. I'll be riding the 250 this weekend and will be looking forward to your first ride report :)

Hey make that two broken hearts! I was ready to get Krieg's bike had a buyer set up for my Honda and he just couldn't get the money. So I am stuck with my Honda and my two Husky's.....for now. Hey Kreig sorry you sold your 300 but glad you could. Redbone welcome to the site and enjoy my "almost" bike.
 
Thanks for having me! I've already starting enjoying my new to me "almost yours" 300. Boy I really tore the yard up today! I think I may have upset the neighbors too! I'm like a kid with a new toy!
 
Krieg, If you get bored with the 250, might try a 300 kit on it. I am loving mine, but I bought it already installed. So I can not compare the two for you.

I've considered it. For the riding I do close to home, the 250 is perfect for me. I'll be taking it to PA next month for some fire road, railroad bed, WFO rips. No to mention some serious coal bank hill climbing. I suspect that trip will be when I realize selling the WR 300 was a mistake. We'll see. The PA trip may force me to take the plunge and add the 300 kit.
