  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Im Looking At Maybe Getting A 07 TE 450 Advise please

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi all im looking at trading my 300 ktm for 2007 Te 450 is there any known problems with these bikes anything i should be looking for other than just normal wear items. Sorry for asking such a dumb question. Im not new to huskys as i already have a 07 wr 250.

come onguys any problems with the motors i should be looking for. I dont know much on the husky four strokes and need your help

The 07 is a modest improvement on the bullet proof 2006 model that itself had reasonable upgrades over the 05 model. The 07 was the first year Husky went to the red, white and black livery.
You will find it a very strong motor with no real flaws.Heavier than the KTM but with great engine braking for descents. I had an 06 for 4 years from new and had no mechanical issues whatsoever. The 07 feels a tad more responsive to directional change than the 06. It is the last of the carby models. All in all a great bike and would recommend it to any reasonably fit rider of at least average height-they are not a short bike. I do love the simple uncomplicated engine and ease of valve adjustments (never have to do em anyways). 50mm single chamber forks- Mazocs are good, off the shelf they are meant for circa 80kg riders as is the Sachs rear boinger. If you are more full figured then a spring upgrade is a good investment. Also recommend bash plate, bark busters, and radiator guards (metal) and take the pollution stuff off.
Long story short no continuous history of problems nor systemic issues. Ahere to its required servicing regime and all will be sweet.
I always use a good semi syn oil such as Motul 5100 10-50 wght. I use iridium plugs and always put in full syn 2 stroke oil in with my fuel at 150:1 as a valve and top end protector as a lead replacement. pretty sure it helps with keeping the fuel in good nick.
Hope this helps.

Change the oil often as with any high perf 4 stroke. If it starts hard especially when hot, valves may need adjusted. More often the exhaust valves. Those motors are rippers. I had a 510. With a high compr piston and dual stage ignition, it was an animal!
Good luck and enjoy.

Only icky thing was the Huqvarnas came with Alexon radiators that year. They are more brittle and prone to cracking than Toyo radiators. Other than that, not much has gone wrong in 10,000 miles on mine.
The engine isn't very torquey, and it loves to rev. So if you are a pokey rider like myself, you need to be good on the clutch and/or step up your game in the technical sections.
That being said, I love mine.

I bought mine used (3rd owner) and the motor has over 10000k and yet to have a rebuild. Just nearing the end of a full season of just riding (no racing this year) and can't rave enough about the handling and manageable power of this bike. Equipped with a Rekluse z-start, bash guard, moose racing hand guards,7602 cover with sight glass and have been just changing oil and putting gas in it. Have developed a small weep around the base of cylinder head...time for a top end at end of season anyways..replaced bearings in rear wheel twice (weird), all bushings/bearings in rear suspension, and drivetrain....regular maintenance stuff. Valves adjusted when I first bought it and will take a peek after tomorrow's ride to see if anything has changed. Major takeaway point......this bike with Rekluse, 14T x 47 gearing has kept me happy to travel on asphalt to trails, rip some local trail/enduro track, and return home without major fail. switched from MOtul full synthetic to semi synthetic 10 w 40 and change it often...usually every 5 ish hrs. I bought this rig at a STEAL of a deal which always makes one grin a little more every time I ride it!

Thanks all, just the sort info i needed. The bike im looking at has just over 4k miles and one previous owner and is up for 2700 at my local husky dealer.
