  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ignition Switch Adding....

matt mckibben

Husqvarna
KTM?Husky switch uses a 6 pin block, turns out its a standard Molex .093" series plug
part number 1261PRT... and most of the plugs on our (2007 for me) Huskies are from Molex.

now can anybody point me to a wiring diagram that has a stock ignition key switch?

(I'm adding a ket switch to my 2007 te250)
thx, Matt

to tell you the truth, I don't know the differences in the '07 models (blue/yellow vs. red/white; carb vs fuel injection probably) but this repair manual is for the E series models:
http://docs.wavenetworks.us/manuals//2007 E-Series 250-450-510 Repair.pdf
and this one is for the plain-jane earlier '07s:
http://docs.wavenetworks.us/manuals//2007 ALL 250-450-510 Repair.pdf

you can find other manuals here:
https://husqvarnaoutlet.com/repair_manuals
(look around, they have parts manuals too)

this screen grab is for the e-series... the ign switch is #26

But this diagram does'nt show how to connect to the colours from the stock key switch. It's a whole different combo of colours from the switch and into the plug. I struggle to find this out because I have use another plug, and dont know what colours to put together.....

well, I'm not gonna dig too deep...
but just reading my screenshot of the harness connector above:

connector pins 1-2 (blue, white/blk stripe) are shorted when the key is OFF and open when ON

pins 3-4 (red, green/red stripe) are shorted when ON and open when OFF
pins 5-6 (yellow, red) are shorted when ON and open when OFF

[note: electrically, 3-4-5-6 are shorted together when ON because they're using the same red wire]

the green/red stripe wire may be gray/red stripe (Italian translation issue).

none of this info is guaranteed.

Hi.
I solved the mistery.
I had to use a ohm-meter to find out.
The wiring on the key switch (8000A8903), have these colours:
-Green
-Orange
-Yellow
-Black/green
-Red/white
-Blue.
Sooo.....
Then the key is in OFF position, it connects Red/white>>>>Blue!
When in ON position, it disconnects Red/white and blue. And connects Yellow>>>>black/green. And Green>>>>Orange.
So, now it is much easier to understand how to connect these wires to the diagram. :-)

congratulations- wasn't that hard was it?

so going by your colors on the key ignition side of the connector- the blue wire is pin 1, red/white is 2 (or IOW: blue, white/blk wire pair on the bike side of the connector).

give future readers the rest of the pin numbers (actually, if you connect a pair to the green, orange pins and the other pair to the yellow, blk/grn pins- it should be fine).

there are many times that suppliers use different colored wires on "their" side of a connector- the speedo comes to mind here; so you have to do this kind of investigation using a meter.

good luck.

No. It was'nt that hard.....when a friend showed me HOW to use a meter, and what to look for.
I'm waiting for "the right" connectors to arrive, and will update you as soon as I have done the job and have quality checked my work. :-)

Yup. I bought some Molex 0.93" 6 pinns connectors, and they were the right ones.
So...
Through this connectors I wired it this way:
(Key switch>>>Harness on bike.)
Green>to>Green/red
Orange>to>Red(thin).
Yellow>to>Yellow
Black/green>to>Red(thick)
Blue>to>Blue.
Red/white>to>(2pcs))black/white

So, now when I switch the key the instruments lights up and the digital numbers shows. And when I push the kill switch to OFF, I can push START button, and it starts up. Then the rpm and "lights on-indicator" and "neutral-indicator", both green lights, lights. I can kill the engine both with the key, by switching to OFF, or push kill switch. Niiice!
