• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Idaho and Montana trip

It looks like Idaho and Montana have the most potential to ride this time of year. Hoping to drive up in a week or so for a couple of weeks to ride. Appreciate any suggestions on areas to visit. Bringing the mtb and an inflatable sup just in case. Rider planet has alot but have not scoured the GPS track website yet. Looks like Boise has alot close by.

That's the way it is looking Kelly. From Boise to Idaho City as a start looks awesome.

Pretty much everything North and east of boise is endless epic trails of all kinds. Idaho City to Stanley is loaded with trail everywhere. You could ride out of idaho city for a month and hit half of it. Its rediculious.

Blake and I did some great loops just south of Stanley. Each were about 70 miles and I'd consider them intermediate with the occasional 'oh shit' moment. but the trail quality and scenery were mind blowing Holler if you want trail names. And each loop consists of 4-5 trails (long trails!), so its relatively easy to navigate.

Also, be sure hit up Bill Dart (billdart@rocketmail.com) for maps. He mailed mine to smiley creek lodge and they were waiting for me when I arrived.

Idaho City can get pretty hot at times which makes Stanley perfect as it is quite a bit higher/really cools off at night. You could ride for years and not visit it all from Boise to Stanley. Keep going north or east and it will take a lifetime to ride all the great trails.

You have to ride out of bounds to see all the good trails in Montana. We are quickly getting to a point we'll have no access in another 10 years if the huggers have their way. I make the 45 min to 60 minute drive to Idaho to ride where I used to be able to ride from the house to pretty much unlimited riding. Snivel over.

Thanks PC and Wallybean  Went through Stanley and visited a hot springs up there returning the back way from Sun Valley mtb'ing 20 years ago. Only time I was in Idaho besides a few times just blasting through the state.

I live in Nampa, ID. I normally ride south of town and the last couple weeks has been epic with nice and wet sand washes. Like everyone is saying you can ride for months and not see it all. If your interested in a 40-80 mile day ride look me up. I know the area pretty well and I know where it get a darn good burger too.

Anytime, I ride every week and as of late it has been both days (Sun & Mon) but with a couple days notice I can get more time off.

Would that be the Snake Pit? I use to stop there once in a while
