• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

ibeat vs dynojet pc5

I have a 08 te450. I currently have the power up kit installed.

I am looking for increased performance and better af mixture at different altitude. I would also like to increase my fuel mileage when on long gravel road trips.

I don't really know the pro's and cons of each system, I like the pc5 with autotune because I could have two maps. Does the 2.2kohm plug come out with the pc5 with autotune?

Which would be the better choice?

The first thing I would do is send a PM/email to Scotty and be sure your bike does not need a re-flashing of the ecu.

After that, you should somehow be able to get access to a iBeat because that will probably be eventually needed to diagnose issues in the distant future, and you can do some basic tuning with it.

Then would come the PC V with autotune, which really would be the only thing that would need to be installed on your bike long term.

Yes the 2.2 kohm resistor stays on the bike when using a PC V. With the auto tune the exhaust plug where the O2 sensor was will need to be removed, and the dynojet supplied Lambda sensor would be screwed in.

SO are you saying I need the ibeat and the pc5 w/autotune?
Or could I just check my ecm then buy the pc5?

I'm not sure if I can improve on my previous post for clarity.

Some of the 2008 bikes can be improved with an ecu re-flash. The vin # would determine that. Scott Rocher in Ontario can tell you if your could be improved, and if yes, you could mail your ecu to him.

You presumably have a car or truck. That will eventually need a OBDC code reader of some type, either OBDC I or II. That is one of the important things the iBeat does, reads codes - in addition to some other things that the PC V cannot do. It also has some adjustments that affect tuning, but I do not recall if those adjustments are for open loop mode like you are using.

Then the PC V can adjust fuel mapping based on throttle position and rpm - that is something the iBeat cannot do, at least for the 2008 bikes.

It's a little complicated....

Hopefully someone else can word what I am trying to say even better. :)

perfect thanks!

The only point I was confused about was needing the ibeat, I wasn't aware of it's code reading abilities, or diagnostics!
