• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

iBeat in NYC area?

Does anyone have an iBeat setup in the NYC area? I am having some issues with my neutral light flashing intermittently (but not exactly the way described in the manual), and would love to check out the diagnostics. Of course, happy to compensate for the time.

Thanks

I have a 610 IE in the NYC area, but don't own iBeat myself. Let us know what you come up with. By the way, where do you go for services? I haven't found a service shop near NYC with deep husky knowledge.

Hey JD! Where are you located? I ended up finding a used iBeat rig on this forum, and it's on it's way.

Once I have it - you're welcome to come by and check out your bike, and see what it can tell us. I haven't taken the bike in for any type of service. It's new to me, and anything I've done to it so far I've done myself. Other than the tight fit of the engine area (like all new bikes!), its a fairly simple setup.

I usually keep my bike in the downtown area. I split my time between NY and Berlin.

Enjoy your 610... If you are looking for rides in the NY area, check out the Pine Barrens 500 (http://www.pinebarrens500.org) they have a spring ride that is worth attending. Bear Creek dual sport is another ride (http://bearcreeksportsmen.com/quarry.html) - its more single track and steep mud with lots of trees, so you'll end up envying the 250s. The Catskills have some nice roads, but its hard to find good dirt near NY (here's a Catskills ride report I made for a trip from NYC). I'll be doing some of those rides next year. For now, my bike is currently on its way much further afield :-)

Thanks for all the links JD! If you are back by springtime, we should hook up for some riding. I got the iBeat in the mail - and I have the program and USB driver installed on the computer (this was far more difficult than it needed to be, because Windows is a foreign language to me!). Heading back to garage to see if I can't make sense of all this.

At least you now know that upon your return, there will be a diagnostics waiting for you in the NYC area (I'm in Brooklyn). Good luck on your trip.

Shoulda asked me.

I have it in NYC.

Well, I sorta did :) I posted up, no one closer than Albany responded - and then found member in the meantime who had it for sale reasonable. I've been having so many issues with it though - that I'm glad I didn't waste anyone's time.

Where in Jersey are you???
