  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

and I bit the bullet! I have a deposit on a 2011 TXC 449 and a 2011 TXC 250!! I'm so excited to pick these up. It's tought to see my 07 TE450 go, but it's time to upgrade.

I plan on buying the JD tuner for both bikes. I want to put a headlight and tail light on the 449 and a dash computer like a Trailtech Vapor. I have a couple of questions.

1. Should I go with the OEM TE headlight or aftermarket?
2. Should I go with a 2012 TE rearfender and taillight or just a bolt on aftermarket taillight. I read the 2012 fender is a better design? It looks the same to me.
3. Is the Trailtech Vapor a good choice? Is there any other recomendations?
4. Where can I buy a mid pipe guard for both bikes? What is a good one to get?
5. Other than the JD tuner, pipe guards and some hand gaurds is there anything else that is a must have for these bikes?

Thanks

For my money here are my answers.

1. Aftermarket headlight most likely trail tech headlight
2. Whatever looks good to you.
3.haven't used anything other than stock what things do you need it to do?
4. Don't have one on my bike
5. Skid plate I went with uptite, radiator guards 7602 plus rear disk guards Motosportz if you live in a rocky area. Then ride and accessorize as needed.

Oh and as I found out today dump the stupid 12mm front axle bolt for one of the aftermarket ones that are 10mm hex so it's a common tool size that you will have in you trail tools.

The stock 449/511 headlight is VERY nice and bright it's like a real headlight not the mx stuff we have been cursed with in the past.
The 2012 rear fender (449/511) is a one piece instead of 3, I just went aftermarket because it costs a lot less. In the big harness behind the front number plate you will see a aqua wire and there is nothing on the other side plugged in. That is your power the brown is you ground. It's nice because it cuts power about 3 seconds after the motor stops. Enjoy the bikes.

Oh and google the veypor speedometer its way nicer that the trailtech.

Thanks for the replies. I bought the 250 for my son to ride. He is coming off a Kdx 220. Thinking I'll go with OEM lights. Should have the bikes by Saturday :-)

i figured it was for your kid or wife but didnt know if you may have been racing in different classes on different races lol very cool yall will have a great time on them im sure.
