  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna TE 510 2008 speedometer compatibility

Hi guys,

Just broke my 2008 TE 510 speedometer.

Is it possible to replace it with a differente year one?

I can get good deals on used one from years 2006,2007 and 2009/2010.

Thank you.

...and they're pretty much bolt-on.

(the stud spacing is the same; the speed sensor connector is the same. I think this is true for the '08s also)

I think the stock husky ones are the same throughout the years. They may have changed it once? around '06.

Thank you ! That was very helpful !!

I think you mean this one, the TT VAPOR STEALTH COMPUTER:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Trail-Tech-...ash=item33c41f99ff:g:oPIAAOSwA3dYI8PX&vxp=mtr

or possibly the 08-12 Husqvarna specific model "752-102" :

combined with the suitable (universal?) DASHBOARD :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-TRAIL-T...ash=item25b1072f51:g:niYAAOSwYHxWQiy5&vxp=mtr

or even a $180 BUNDLE with BOTH units like this :

The last one does say explicitly "HUSQVARNA"... So I assume there is some level of better (plug?) compatibility ?

How did you guys deal with the connection, it would seem to me the simplest way is some sort of a "Husky to TT" wiring adapter, with one end that (almost) fits into the pre-existing Husky plug out of the bike, and a second one that fits right in the back of the TT unit(s).

Does something like that exists, or very close to it, it would be a cleaner install ? Link ? Or do you just wire "this red to this blue" etc. individually ?

Sorry for all the questions.

All the sensors come with the unit so they plug in with their own plugs. The lights you will have to wire yourself, no plugs. I think the only "husqvarna" specifics is the way stuff mounts not the plugs. Could be wrong. I always just get the generic kit and do what I want. If you want plug and play you will have to go with a OEM husqvarna unit.

I found the cheapest place for the trailtech was Thumpertalk store last time I bought one.

Herb and Ismael-

you could tap into the harness-end of the stock speedo's connector. Just put complementary pins/wire on the conductors you're interested in (hi beams, neutral, and turns, I'm guessing) and run them to the TT. secure the wires and fill the half of the connector with (silicone maybe?).

btw, turn sigs- you're gonna hafta "wire-or" them together. This isn't as hard as it sound: each turn wire gets a diode, and the cathode of the diodes are twisted together and have a wire soldered on 'em (this is the wire that goes to the single turn light or LED indicator). This keeps one direction of turn sigs from flashing the other at the same time.

yes, you could get a connector and wire it up to fit the stock husky connector- but for somebody without experience, this is a big job.
