  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Don't have the manual to read but your wallet probably plays a big part in how often to change your oil ... Some here probably change oil after every race ... Some every 2-3 races ... 10 HRS is probably in line with using a good oil and getting your monies worth from it ...

What are you gonna do with this TC? Race it MX style or what?

thanks guys .... its going to be used for MX ( OVER 50S lol )
im sure that the manual says 8hrs but not sure , ive just come from a TM 450 with a 2 hr Oil change so im a bit confused
i always use good oil - Putoline 10/50 fully synthetic

I concur with Ray. The filters in our motorcycles only filter out the big stuff, the only way to filter the smaller particles that cause damage is to change our oil often. How often is up to you.

I change mine every 100 miles, unless I am riding 300 in a weekend, then I change it after that. Back when I was a pit mechanic, I would change after a day of racing.

The official recommendation is every 8hrs, depends how hard its being ridden and what oil you are running if you need to change it earlier or not. The TC450 isn't particularly hard on its oil.

thanks dave , which oil do you recommend ?

Original fill and official recommendation is Castrol Power 1 Racing 10w50.

When that engine series was first launched the recommendation was Agip 10w60 and in the race team bikes prior to the Castrol sponsorship our race team ran the Motul 300v 15w50 Factoryline. We had good experience with the Motul but the race team the last couple of years have been on Castrol and it works well even in the new 250/310 which work their oil hard and hold less than a litre.
