  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husqvarna Concept Street bikes to ship in MY2017

mnb

Husqvarna
Pro Class
400cc street bikes. One sort of cafe racer like. The other, street tracker like.

At EICMA, Husqvarna said it would gauge audience reaction to help make a decision on production. The roar of approval has evidently made it so, with Husky pledging to release the bikes as 2017 models. The green light was no doubt aided by the additional fact that the 401 concepts are based on the skeleton of the KTM 390, sparing the tiny Swedish brand obscene development costs. We've been warned that they will, of course, look a little different in showroom guise, "but they will definitely have the same style."

FINALLY!

KTM has loosened the slack on the chain to allow Husky a little design freedom. Interesting looking bikes. Not quite what I'm looking for personally, but this variance from the KTM company line is encouraging. There may be hope for Husky to be more than a clone of Orange yet.

I think they will need a place to mount a plate so have taken the liberty...

A little funky/chunky/busy for my taste and that antiqued bronze and white spring maybe is a hit in Austria but not for me.

It's a concept bike. The shipping models will be different and both will have plates, obviously. I kinda like the look. It'll be interesting to see how it changes in the shipping version.

I wouldn't buy one. 400cc is too small for me. Suspension travel looks rather short.
