• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky officially assimilated by KTM

dhawker

Husqvarna
AA Class
Well after ordering a couple of clutch bushings from my HUSQVARNA dealer for my 2007 Husky TE 610, this is what I got.

My name is KTM you have been assimilated, resistance is futile! I guess it is official now. At least it still says "Made in Italy"

You are actually admitting you got a part, a motorcycle part, for a Husqvarna motorcycle? Bless your heart young man....

I can remember when Swedish Husky parts, started coming in Cagiva packaging... We survived then too!

Ha. Yes. I remember. I thought the free world was coming to an end. 430 air-cooled base gaskets with an elephant on the package... BLASPHEMY!

Slightly off topic: What's also interesting to me is that SP, in his marketing ploy to "take Husqvarna back to it's roots," chose to go with the white/blue/yellow. I like it, I get it, but when Husky became known as the premier brand in the 70's... gray frame and chrome-panel tanks, with paint color loosely representing the various models and/or displacements. To us old guys who remember Husqvarna, the white/blue/yellow was a radical DEPARTURE from what they had been for a very long time. How (and I will admit the new bikes are gorgeous)... how... does that represent their roots??

It doesn't represent the roots but it is good marketing. A lot of people now believe it is the roots because of it. I do agree the bikes look good like a 1993 husky.

Pfff....I remember the first time I saw those KTM stickers on my Husqvarna parts a couple of years ago. I'm pretty much over that by now.

Funny how times changed, even before SP.... White Huskys were not immediately accepted, by the Husky Faithful back in the day. A lot of '83 leftovers, that got sold with a free '84 plastic tank to make them look updated. Then somehow over time.... the '83 bikes became almost venerated!

Husky at least in the US... reached their absolute pinnacle of off road domination, in the white bike period though. It doesn't hurt to emphasis that. Probably, if the Italian Huskys had stayed Yellow/Blue, SP would have went Red/White. They needed to make a break and the '92-'93 Husky graphics layout, wasn't a bad one to pick... One of the most understated and elegant Husky graphic designs ever. When the Japanese were all splash graphics and flo pink, KTM was all K-Style mint green seats and red frames... the Huskys were simply stunning.

Excuse me!? What's wrong with mint green seats and red frames???

is it me, or does that era ktm motor look just like a primary kick swede motor? the clutch cover almost looks the same?? the swedes prototype was around in the mid/late 70s..i just get a kick out of that! sweet bike by the way!

I think the left kick euro bikes all had a similar look, husky, maico, ktm.
The Husky's a beaut Norm. The green KTM sounds odd but works wonders in person.

OH, it's odd for sure. I was working for a KTM dealer at the time, and they had just produced the gorgeous 89 and 90 models. When we heard that the 91's were going to have a mint green seat... well... crickets, to say the least. We moped around like sad puppies for about 6 weeks (back then KTM was -hard to believe- not very good with their information network) while we waited for a bike to show up. Finally, it did. We ripped that crate open and stood there in AWE at the Frankenbike KTM had puked out of its factory. Bright red frame and mint green seat. We were shocked. Absolutely silent. Couldn't believe what we were looking at. Because it was absolutely gorgeous. Who knew.

We'll agree, to disagree on this one.... LOL!

I'd agree- they had some curious color schemes back in the day. Here's my old RXC:
