• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Husky Monument Question

Puckerbush

Husqvarna
AA Class
My best friend died last Sunday in a dirt bike accident in Oregon. His son wants to place a memorial for him at the Husky Monument. Does anyone know if there is any type of permission nessesary from any governmental agencies to accomplish this. Thanks.

Just do it. Just be respectful.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I agree with Benwiggin, just do it and be respectful and no one should complain.

Thanks. I will forward this info to my friend's son. Good to hear from you Benwiggin. I see we have the same bike (08 510TE). We should get together and compare notes. I have a terrible flat spot at 1/8 throttle that I can't seem to lose. My phone is (714) 296-7094.

Hey Pucker, how's it going? We're going out to that area this weekend- Thursday thru Sun. Does your bike flat spot even in the dirt? Do you have any type of tuner on it?

Please share with me as well. 2008 TE 510

Hey Benwiggin2,
The flat spot is from idle as you roll on the throttle from a stop, the engine wants to bog and then when you get to 1/8 throttle comes on like gangbusters. While riding on street, you can feel the flat spot at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. I have a JD Tuner and have the green light set to 5 and it has helped, but it is annoying to have to burn the clutch to get off the line for fear of stalling. I haven't ridden in dirt for awhile to see how it does there, but the street is the best place to feel the problem.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

Pretty cool how the conversation went from talking about a memorial to bike tuning.

I did this with mine. Fooled around withe JD tuner and found that the accelerator pump was up on 6, I started bring that number down and was pretty excited when the bog went away when I got down to #3.
Try that and see what happens on yours.

Thanks Bigjon. It's worth a try. I didn't mean to drift the conversation from my dear friend to tuning. I'm still reeling over what happened. I've ridden with him for over 42 years and still can't believe he hit a log and died. He was a talented rider that I admired. It was just his time, but he went out doing something he loved to do. We all should be so fortunate. We are doing a memorial for him at the Husky Monument in May.

Powerful words friend. Always be prepared... I hope mine doesn't come tonight, tomorrow, or next year - but if it does, I hope my last muscle action is a big ole' grin!
