  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc How to tame my WR250

Hi I have a 08 wr250 and I would like to make it smoother as i do a lot of woods riding and wet clay.

Can you get a diffrent CDI box? or one with a switch?

I have fitted it with a lectron And that helped but I whant to get It smoother.

I have read that the 11-13 wr's are way smoother? Is that true?

taller gearing can help, as it may be geared too low for your needs..
a "slower" throttle will help, and make it less sensitive..
a flywheel weight will help also..

G2 throttle with Lectron and Rekluse is sweet! Also up to 14:49 gears and 1st is still a ripper, 2nd gear starts and scary 5th
Also, tire size makes a difference.

Yea, I went through this with my 09. I put a lectron, throttle tamer and fmf gnarly with q-stealth silencer. Even with the JD Jet kit while I had the mikuni, I think throttle tamer and gnarly made it pretty smooth.
Next step is to send it to forward motion for porting next time you do a top-end. They have a smooth option.
My 250 is there right now for an overbore to 295 + bottom end grunt porting.

Get suspension set up for your weight and learn to ride, im a 5'7" 75kg dude an have no issues manhandling my 360 through the woods.
Only been riding 5 years.

Thanks for all your help!

I have Rekluse to fit to it will fit this weekend.

What is a throttle tamer? And what is a Tubliss? and a G2 throttle?

retarding timing a bit would help as well as eliminate kickback and perhaps even less engine stress.

This and some Base gaskets will be the easy fix to make the engine more comfortable to ride at lower speed.
I did all of these modifications, but most significant was the ignition- the engine does not rev like wild- its so much more comfortable at higher rpm´s .
I m a 125 driver, so not used to that amount of power my bikes got- thats why i tried to make it more controllable until i m used to it.
Also it would make me tired more quickly which is not good at a 2 hours cross country races.

Which metering rod are you running? My 2010 250 had the 3-1xl rod in it when I bought it. Was really tame off the bottom. No real hit anywhere almost electric feel to it. I replaced it with a 3-2xl to wake it up

This is a great company that makes a quality product in the USA! Kind of ironic, I used a throttle tamer on my TE 310R, and now with a WR144 use the quick turn throttle. Both products are high-quality.
