• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

How long for parts

Broccoli2

Husqvarna
B Class
So I bought my husky over a month ago. It had major engine failure.
I have been trying to get parts for over a month. I have given my local dealer over well over $1000 and I have a timing chain and an o-ring. How long can it possibly take. This makes me want to part this thing out and find something else. Rant over

So to my question
How long does it take you guys to get OEM parts for your bikes?

Just shipping time from the dealer or maybe 5 days or so for the dealer to get the parts and then shipping time to you is what I have experienced in the past ... Is the part back ordered or anything like that?

Maybe find out what parts were ordered then call Husky NA in Corona, CA and see if they can expedite or call Hall's and see if they have the parts. Europe shuts down in Aug so that could explain some time. If they ship by boat that's another week.

Not a warranty I guess.

Not back ordered, and I go to the dealer so, shipping to me is not an issue. OK so lets say five days to the dealer, lets say 10 days to the dealer. It has been over a month...
I keep hearing good things about Halls. This will be where I try next.

#glangston nope no warranty. I got it like this..

Funny thing is i'm really not to upset. I just want to ride this thing and I am used to the Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki, being able to get parts with in 2 days an be back on the trail.

I've never waited more than a week for a part unless it was on back order. Even the japanese brands have stuff that's on back order.

My 2003 Te610 required a new cam, stator and related parts. I had all the parts within a week. Nothing back ordered.

My 2011 TE310 has needed nothing beyond oil filters. 55 hours on it so far.

Try Halls or MotoXotica depending on where you live.

I have only had 1-2 things that were on back order when I ordered from Halls. They are very upfront about that and parts arrived just when they said they would. There were no surprises.

If the parts are in the US, it usually takes a week, maybe a little more. If the parts come from Italy, for example my ignition, it takes over a month to get because they won't send just one part, they add it to major orders. Fortunately my dealer, Malcolm Smith, had some pull with husky and had it air shipped to reduce time. I would definitely use a different dealer if you can.

Ok. So I figured it out. I ordered a "head assembly" not just the "head". This should include values. Husky sent the dealer the head with out values, so the dealer had to figure out why. My understanding is husky does not actually have a "head assembly even though that is what it says in the catalog. So my dealer had to order all the parts and assemble it. Pretty cool on the dealers part if you ask me. And now they have been waiting on one part from husky that has been ordered twice and has the correct label on packaging but is wrong. They have a call into the rep to figure this out. So my rant earlier although is accurate it is not my dealers fault and they are in my opinion going far beyond what any of the Japanese dealers have done for me and I was a long time customer and I am a new husky owner.
Does any of this make sense?

I have to agree. I had a fuel pump issue with my Yamaha and it took about a month to get a new one...it really must just depend on the part

My understanding is the 250 and the 310 were the same. As a matter of fact I tried to get a 449 cause I had to replace it anyway but it wouldn't work. And I did buy a NOS 250 to 310 kit because they gave me a killer deal and it is the exact same cylinder.

OK this is getting fricken stupid**************************************** I needed the alignment pins for cylinder to head.. Of course my local dealer didn't have them so I called Halls. They had them and sent them out. So this delayed my build by another 7 days. So on tuesday I fit the pins and continued. I get to the part where I have to instal the new Hi flow water pump and surprise surprise it had been dropped and the alignment pin will not fit it the now oblong hole.. Again my local dealer doesn't have one so they are ordering the replacement.. They said it will be FEDEX'ed and be there today but I have my doubts... This brings me to something I saw on my head when I got that from my dealer, 2 of the cam hold down's have flat spots in them as if they have been dropped as well... OH and last time I was there i told them i needed oil and dust seals for the forks... turns out they are wrong too.. 48mm not 50mm.. and they don't have the 50's.. I am getting pretty sick of this bike. I just want to ride and if I have to call Hall's every time I need something I might as well cut my losses and get one of those orange bikes.....**************************************** i got this bike early August and it is now mid October that is almost 2 and 1/2 months trying to get parts... This is not OK I have missed out on quite a few rides Rant over for now but I'm sure Something else will start me up again... Anyone want to buy a TE310

Agreed with above, even having to order from across the boarder.
Huskys aren't hugely common like team green, yellow, blue or orange. We are a niche and it does take a little bit of growing pains to sort out consumer woes. That's where this forum comes into play. Rather than rant about how you dislike the bike, we here offer great insight. Best of luck, and be careful assembling so as not to damage and have to wait again for parts.

(p.s. I've waited 2 months for a VR last year - totally missed out on ice racing season).

Agreed with the last two. FYI. I am not ranting about the bike or even the wait for parts. I am ranting at my local dealers inability to give me parts that fit my bike or that are not damaged. I guess what I'm saying is I wish I would have used only halls. Every time I call them they have the part I need no matter how obscure it is. If I would have done that I would have been ridding over a month ago.
I love this bike and I haven't even ridden it yet.

95% of the OEM stuff I have needed is on my doorstep the day after I order it from MotoXotica, once they didn't have a part in stock, it took about 5 days to get that part. Maybe I'm lucky but I waited longer for Suzuki parts most of the time. The good dealers really support the brand and seem to stock a lot of the things we need, my local dealer is not one of these, they even need to order oil filters.

1 Halls 2 bills Not sure whats going on. Must not of been new and no warrenty? I drive 11 hours for a reason and also ride 2-strokes for another reason. NO $2,000 burndowns. And by the time you change the oil and filter all the time you minus well run a smoker. Quick revving and LOTS of power. Point being get your money back and try a different dealer. There are Husky dealers I would buy from but not let change a spark plug. Good luck and really what you learn from this is find a better dealer.

I certainly can understand you being upset. But dude remember you are riding a bike that is not a belly button bike. You MUST find a dealer to suit your needs and if the part was in stock you could have had it shipped overnight for additional cost. From what I have seen the Husky 4-strokes are more reliable then the orange ones and parts and the bikes cost less. Write off your dealer (your not from MN are you??) Until Husky becomes more main stream there are going to be good and bad dealers. This all goes way way back when they were not thinking about the future and are lucky to still be in business. In my opinion they make a superior product to the current KTM line. I have been dealing with Halls for MANY years and have had nothing but good luck. Sorry for your frustration but before throwing in the towl, hook up with a good dealer that can deliver the service you need. If you run out of patience then you must do what you have to.
