• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

How lock the forks on an SM 610?

Spencer Cross

Husqvarna
Hey all. I just recently bought a 610 that didn't come with an owner's manual, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to lock the front forks. I know where the lock is, and I can insert and turn the key, but I can't seem to find a handlebar position in which it will lock. And I tried looking at the owner's manual on the Husky site, but it's essentially just book of parts diagrams. Can anyone explain to me what I'm missing?

On my 08 you turn the front wheel all the way to the left, insert key into steering head lock, turn counter clockwise and push in, while keeping light pressure on pushing the key inside, start moving the front wheel back to the right, when you get to the sweet spot the key will slide inside the cylinder and your front wheel will no longer be able to move from side to side, while still pushed in, turn the key clockwise, pull out and turn the lock cover back down to cover the key hole, you are now under the illusion that your bike is safe and all is good with the world...
Hope this works for you

Yep, what Muddy said. That's how I do it. Took me a while to figure it out, too, and I had no excuse as I had a brandy-new owner's manual :D

And welcome to CafeHusky and the wonderful world of SM610 ownership, Spencer Cross
I've got over 16,000 miles on my 610 and I love it! Most fun bike I've ever owned, street or dirt!

Don't forget to unlock it!! You will have a little play in the bars with it locked. This can lead to you making an ASS of yourself in front of lots of people and crashing into the window at Dunkin Donuts.

Thanks for the feedback all! (And apologies for not saying so sooner; I guess I need to change my forum notification settings). It was pushing in on the key that I was missing. All sorted now, though unfortunately not before reading @1lunger's advice. Thankfully, I avoided breaking any windows!
