  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc how can I fix/replace the gas tank bolt post?

PC.

Husqvarna
AA Class
I broke the gas tank bolt on my 2009 bike and in my attempt to extract it... I broke the extractor off. To make a long story short, I've pretty much ruined the OEM post and need to replace it.

Does someone sell a pre-threaded post I can weld onto the frame? Or will I need to buy a solid post, weld it on and then tap new threads?

Or if anyone happen to have an easier solution I am all ears. thanks!

The older husky like 2006 to maybe 2008 have the longer post where the gas tank bolt last longer Then the newer ones where the post is shorter and then you have a spacer and a longer bolt that brakes a lot

So what you can do is get a regular grade 5 bolt grade 8 is to hard to tap Get a long bolt about the size of your now post cut the bolt to size needed weld it on then drill it and tap it i now get a new gas tank bolt put it on and you are done.

I like to tack the center bolt to the frame put on the tank make sure all is centered then remove tank and weld the new post easy and cheap

Suggest if you use this method to tap the new bolt/post before welding; maybe get someone with a metal lathe to drill it and do it for you nice and tidy. Then anti- seize compound on the new threads and put a bolt in there to protect the new threads until you are finished.

Nice idea! I'm sure a grade 5 bolt is much cheaper and easier to find than an actual post. And since its hidden under the tank it doesn't matter what it looks like.

Now I just gotta get off my ass and do it!

Nice call! That would actually take some abuse too.
Either method would be dirt cheap
