  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Since we have a 430 update, how about whats in your carb for the 250 models form 82 Wr then on to 83 and 84 air. Lets add in the late WC s whats in your carb ??

I'll start...
83 250WR
450
6DH20-3
3.0
40
recently sold the bike and can't remember which needle jet I had in there.

Don't forget the exhaust tuning seems to effect the 250's more then the open bikes too.

My 83 250CR, ran ok, til , I replaced the stock silencer with a Vintage Answer, I could believe the difference .

That is really something to think about. Humm FMF still make s an option , or if one could find
a used vintage Answer. Thanks Mr John

I'l have to take the carb off my 82 250XC and CRs to see what is in them. I changed them from when I got the bikes but I didnt write down what jetting I used.

Every stock jetting should be written down. From your starting point on so if it gets mushy along the way we’re not confused to go back. The pilot jet, the main jet, the needle jet, the needle, the clip position on the needle and the opening in the slide should be written down. It gets worse trying to remember with multiple bikes. Each bike is different.

All I can remember is I installed a 40mm carb on the cr390 and ended up going two sizes smaller on the needle jet. I changed the pilot jet, went leaner and main jet I probably went leaner and installed the UFO. See back then I didn’t write it down too. She ran great. But not for a novice rider.
