  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hour meter on a TC449?

R. Stephen

Pro Class
Anyone install one yet? I cant get my moose one to pick up a signal no matter how I wrap the coil. Any suggestions?

Here is my GET wireless hour meter

Got one on my 511, it's screen isn't always on but it's always ticking over; The 449/511 uses coil on plug so you need to wrap the wire around the coil afaik not the lead if you use the typical hour meter.

it does not have a spark plug wire! and wrapping it around the coil does not work either. Cai man where is your pick up and how does it pick up the signal?

I have installed a moto minder hr mt which was installed when my bike was new, 50 hrs ago. I mounted mine on the radiator support bracket that I installed. From memory it was a fairly quick and easy installation which I have had no problems with as yet, I wrapped the hr mt cable aroung the plug lead and secured via 2 x small cable tie's. Will take some pics tonight when I get home and try to post tomorrow for you.

Sorry mate for not getting back to you. I had a brain fade the other day, my motor is out the bike currently and therefore my rad guards etc have been removed. The hr mt along with them. I should hopefully install soonish, when my new valve shims arrive, will post you a pic or two then if I can figuer out how

engine is out? That is more concerning to me that a stupid hour meter. What happened? I'm going to order the motominder they claim on there site it should work. worth a try

Basically the crank bigend detonated at 50 hrs during a race. I had mysterious metal come through the screens just a few weeks before but then stopped. I think that the oil pumps were damaged slightly which ultimately caused an oil starvation issue during the high speed section of the race a few weeks later. Was covered in a blog a while back now. Either way I wasn't stopping after racing over 350 odd kays with only 80 kays to go....To be honest I could hear the noise but, the bike still had full power and it sounded more like a cracked header or such....Ultimately she came to a sliding halt, Bugger ****************************************!! Costs have totalled approx 2 grand or just over to rebuild, every bearing in the cases, crank assembly, piston, rings, gaskets, new oil pumps, crank shims, valve shims, clutch shims. Oh and thats me doing all the labour. Anyway, when the valve shims arrive on friday she will be good to finish the rebuild, install the motor and away we go again. I can't wait. 2 months off the bike is bad for my health....Like I said my MOTO MINDER has not missed a beat since installation. Will send some pics when she's all back together ****************************************

Well, I can honestly say that I quite enjoyed the rebuild, I probably completed about 95 % without too much assistance. I have a couple of pretty clever mates when it comes to bikes, so always have back up if I get stumped...I took my time and no rushing. I borrowed a couple of husky specific tools of my dealer which made certain jobs easier also. Bike went back together standard, I didn't really need anymore power and too be honest, if I did I would buy a bigger bike altogether...So yep all stock. I learn't heaps, did certain jobs several times until I got it all right, eventually that is. but all good. Hopefully the valve shims roll up today so I can finish it all off ****************************************!

SHIMS ARRIVED LAST NIGHT, YOU BEAUTY. CAN'T WAIT TO FINISH WORK THIS BLOCK AND ASSEMBLE THE BIG GIRL ********************************************************************************! THE DIRTS A-CALLING....

got it installed jumped off the FI relay to get it power only when the bike is running should be good to go.

All, is this the right harness wire on TXC449 to connect to for the red (non-earth sensing) wire on my moto-minder?
